Original Commentary
I get the feeling that Kimberly is not a great cook, but could make a decent meatloaf or shepherd's pie if need be. I get the feeling that Brisbane can make a decent batch of scrambled eggs... after a few tries. I also get the feeling that those two were eating nothing but scrambled eggs for that week.

Modern Commentary
Brisbane becomes a good cook. As of now in the comic, he generally knows what he's doing but he doesn't have the tools or supplies that he was used to, growing up. He's doing ok with what he has and will quietly rebuild his pantry and equipment as the series goes on.
And it wasn't his fault. Kimberly caught this a few days before they went to the park. But Brisbane isn't really sure of himself, especially when it comes to all things Kimberly. - Terrence

Nurse Brisbane

Original Commentary
Brisbane and Sofia are five years apart...I get the feeling that Brisbane had to take care of his little sister a lot when they were kids, Terrence refuses to comment on this.

Modern Commentary
Brisbane always did get stuck as the caregiver, didn't he?
Given everything we know about him and Sofia, it fits. Sometimes, writing just means discovering things that were always there for the characters.
I want to say that Sofia is seven and Brisbane is twelve here. - Terrence

Green eggs
no ham

Original Commentary
You can't tell because this book is printed in black and white, but the medicine Brisbane put in Kimberly's food made it look green. Gives a different meaning to Green Eggs and Ham, I suppose.

Modern Commentary
So here in 2022, the FDA says to NOT cook your chicken in Nyquil. But back in 2004, we had no such guidance and Nyquil Eggs were fair game.
Avocado would've been better. But he doesn't have avocado.
Nothing looks good when you've got the flu, though. I'm surprised she isn't on chicken soup and jello. - Terrence

Original Commentary
Wait for it... wait for it...

Modern Commentary
This is why you communicate with your partner. Don't sneak things into their food. Especially don't "test" allergies. Brisbane's point-of-reference is a very fussy and stubborn child. Kimberly might grouse about the medicine but she'll take it.

Kimberly is giving him an "I want someone to listen to me" issue, not an "I want someone to solve this problem" issue, and it's important to be able to tell one from the other.

Dude could've just told her that the medicine was in the eggs and saved everybody some trouble. - Terrence

Original Commentary
...and there it is. Of course Kimberly was going to knock herself out with meds. Who among us hasn't done this before? I know I did that to Terrence just the other- nevermind.

Modern Commentary
Well, at least she gets to sleep it off. Being sick and awake is no fun and there's times I wish I could just go into deep hibernation for 12 hours rather than being awake and sick for 36 hours. - Terrence

Modern Commentary
An in-continuity Sunday! We must've had advance warning about this.
Note the green tint under Brisbane's glasses. He's definitely sick. Unfortunately, Kimberly isn't quite the caretaker that Brisbane is.
He wore the pink apron for her. She could at least wear that for him. Fair's fair. - Terrence
