Angry

Original Commentary
Originally, Kimberly was going to be sick in the last story arc, but it was pushed back... personally I prefer to think of it as a relapse.

Modern Commentary
Misunderstandings. And new relationship friction. Both of them could've handled this conversation a bit better. More patiently and more pleasantly.
But you learn where boundaries are by testing them. Relationships aren't just constant sweetness. And when it's just you, then feeling lousy is feeling lousy but missed pay isn't coming back.
Also, they just moved into a new place and extra money seldom lasts long- Terrence

bras

Original Commentary
There is this Bra shop around here called "The Wizard of Bras" that I knew about, even before I really knew what a bra was. This was a bit of a nod to them.

Modern Commentary
The secret isn't never getting mad. The secret is not staying mad. Generally speaking. Exceptions apply, etc.

Unrelatedly, one of the things we go back and forth about is brand names and when to use them. There's times when you want to make it clear that we're not affiliated with, endorsed by, or really talking about a nationally-known brand. And there's time when you want to quickly and cleanly communicate that the characters are talking about Wendys or Facebook or The Late Show without making things complicated and hoping the audience guesses correctly.
We color Kevin and Kell, which has Beige University which is based on Auburn University.
For the first few comics, I was instead looking at the landmarks of Brown University and wondering why I couldn't match anything up.

One of the additional complications about fake brand names is that a lot of other people use them and we want to make sure that ours are either generic enough that nobody can claim them or unique enough that it's just ours.
We're a bit nervous about having our characters, to choose a random example, drink Hepsi Cola then it turns out that, without us knowing, someone else used that first. Then we're afraid that folks will say we're ripping off that other game or comic or book or such when we just arrived at the same moderately-obvious place by coincidence.
Wizard of Bras is a good, clever name. It's a real shop and if we had used it that way, it would've seemed like we were trying to take credit for that cleverness. - Terrence

Original Commentary
It's about time Brisbane poked fun at Kimberly... and from seeing where it gets him, maybe he should poke fun at her more often.

Modern Commentary
Points to Brisbane for making her communicate and actually kinda label what they have. Now they're officially dating. Or, at least, they're two people who are going on a date together. Not just roommates who flirt a little.
And it's cute to see him like this. - Terrence

Original Commentary
Brisbane and Kimberly aren't slow.... just really, really cautious.

Modern Commentary
Spoiler alert: She's sick.
But it's good that they're officially going out. It's easy to do what's safe and comfortable, which is why they're taking things slow. If things go bad, he loses his job and house. She loses her only friend. So while they both want to take things further, they certainly don't want to lose it all if things go wrong.- Terrence

Original Commentary
Every time I see this comic I can't help but think back to an Unlike Minerva comic from a few years ago... the one where Caleb (a man who couldn't tell his left from his right) couldn't tell Kimberly was a woman because she never wore dresses (even though she was wearing one in that comic). We didn't see her in many dresses throughout UM, but if Caleb saw her now he'd never second guess her femininity. From the look on his face, neither would Brisbane.

Modern Commentary
I love how they look in these outfits. I like the effect in that second panel. I kinda wish we had used those outfits more. They were on the cover of YSiF Book 2 and in a NamirDeiter.net wallpaper, but that's pretty much it.

Also, legs.- Terrence

Modern Commentary
Again, the Italian station.
Brisbane just has a knack for fixing broken appliances. This is the first time we're seeing it, in a standalone Sunday comic. But we liked the idea and it became a part of what he does.
He's entirely clueless about computers, but can spot a loose wire or a burst capacitor or such. - Terrence
