Could he have? A lot can be done through unofficial channels. Isabel and I have had similar conversations. Usually I can't do it, through official channels or otherwise - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I know that, like, thrift stores have issues with employees calling dibs on the good stuff (possibly to sell on eBay).

Do adoption agencies? I don't know. I figure that as long as they get adopted, it's a win. But maybe they just don't have an official procedure for this and Dr. Paul can be a bit rule-bound sometimes - Terrence

Worry

Original Commentary

I was considering editing the line "If you had paid any attention to me all week!" so it was a full sentence. However, anything I did to complete it made it sound weak. So it may not be grammatically complete, but it's what Sofia said - Terrence

Modern Commentary
The script for this is called "A friend like me". I like "Another one" better as a title.

I'm pretty sure at least one person said that to us when we told them we were adopting our second cat, Momo.- Terrence

New Character

Original Commentary

A few days previous, I decided on the name of these creatures. Why "Brant"? So that Brent would be both an obvious and ridiculous name for them, like having a cat named "Katt" - Terrence

Modern Commentary
And it's Marla O'Donnell, Charles' other half-sister!

She's one of the few characters to show up in person in both of our comics.

Why is there a separate brant adoption holding area?

If you keep the brants and the goldfish together, they will fight. That's why Brenna was returned - she kept getting into fights with the family's goldfish. And losing. - Terrence

No, he doesn't deal with surprises well. Or people. Or brants - Terrence

Modern Commentary
The only thing that brants like less than goldfish is other brants. It's kind of amazing that they breed, sometimes. - Terrence

The "friendly burr" sounds totally different than the "angry burr" - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I wish we had someone tell Sofia that that's not how you introduce brants. And there'd be a whole thing about the brant introduction ceremony and the snacks you have to get them for it, and maybe we'd make Brenna wear a funny hat.

Then Sofia would ignore all that and do basically this - Terrence

Original Commentary

Isabel wrote this arc, of course, but I think it's fun writing the pets. You have a very limited palette to write with ("burr" and variations thereof). So, what colors do brants come in? All the colors that cats don't - Terrence

Modern Commentary
One of the most common questions on the cat-related subreddit is "Are my cats fighting or playing?" and the answer is generally "If your cats were for-real fighting, you wouldn't have to ask".

So is this bullying or just how brants are?

Yes. Both - Terrence
