Tired

Original Commentary

Welcome to the fork in the road, ladies and gents. Fortunately Terrence is taking a bit of time out of his super busy schedule and is getting it written- thank goodness. I would not have had any idea how to do this one- it involves lots of things I know nothing about. Including math. I seriously hate math, seriously.

I had no idea going into this if this comic was supposed to take place right after the last one or not, and since I didn't want to see Kimberly in green... ever again, I went with this. Brisbane is wearing something casual most likely because he's cleaning (he gets home an hour or so before Kimberly- as she leaves for work after him). -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I mean, we care more about outfit continuity than I think most of our readers do.

Does this mean that Emily did a different embarassing thing offscreen? What kind of dramatic effect is Brisbane going for?

I kinda wish I had been better about starting storylines with more oomph. It sets the time and place but doesn't really do much else. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Grandfather Taylor has only been mentioned in passing, even in comics about the past. I'm not ever sure what he looks like.

Will we find out in this arc? Honestly I have no idea... so we'll find out together. ^_^ -Isabel

Modern Commentary
And a summary! Because there's a lot of details to the Taylor family business and I don't expect everybody to remember the finer details. It's good to reiterate plot points; that takes it from "something the characters said once" to "important background knowledge" - Terrence

Worry

Original Commentary

At the last minute I added in quotes to Kimberly's lines, indicated where her Grandfather's lines stopped and hers began. Even though I know it should be obvious... I have learned from experience not to assume everyone will read things exactly as you plan, so try and keep things as labled as possible, right? -Isabel

Modern Commentary
We were vague about the personal reasons right then but it's mostly health issues and a little bit of "doesn't like to travel" - Terrence

Shock

Original Commentary

Was The Troublesome Trouble of Ms. Taylor really two years ago? I guess it was. To recap, the score before this arc was:
Kimberly's Grandfather - 45%
Kimberly - 5%
Ms. Taylor - 15%
Brisbane - 5%
Mr. Taylor - 10%
Dan Thompson - 8%
Other - 10%
Unaccounted for - 2%

Why don't we mention this more often? Because the font we use doesn't have a percentage - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Yeah, having to rig a percentage sign was a real hassle for a comic based on fractional ownership. This is one of the reasons why we're re-lettering things.

Also, the first draft had him give them a 5% share; this way, the math is a bit more advantageous - Terrence

Controling Interest

Original Commentary

Is it a new day? probably not... Kimberly changed, Brisbane didn't. Well, technically, Brisbane had already changed after he had gotten home from work, so it was now Kimberly's turn. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
And the wedding storyline meets the business storyline! Taylor family drama all around! - Terrence

Original Commentary

As you may know, I talk a lot about putting more drama and conflict into the story. When I wrote this comic and the previous one, I realized - this is like discovering gunpowder. It changes things, and opens up a lot more business/family-related conflict. So expect more of that, assuming I follow up on things - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Kimberly is wrong; there's advantages to finding solutions that work for everybody and getting buy-in from all involved. But that's kind of how Brisbane and Kimberly's managerial styles differ - Terrence

Original Commentary

Terrence had the intention, unfortunately our current maddening circumstances are pushing against them. The arc was planned to have been going on longer, but at the moment he is not in a situation to write out the long, intricate arc he wished. So... we will put the matter on hold for a few weeks. Hopefully by then we will be moved in and on and can continue the arc as it should be told. Think of the next few weeks as an intermission of sorts. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Firstly, I'm glad we ended it here. It's a little thing that they can use in the future when the time is right.

Secondly, neither of them know what they're doing. Deep down, being in charge is mostly about convincing other people that you're in charge. - Terrence
