Original Commentary

I keep wanting to call Sydney Dennis. Dennis is Brisbane's middle names. I suppose since those were two names that only really came up in Unlike Minerva's character's page, I mixed the two up.

I had wanted Sydney's line in panel three to be something along the lines of "Brisbane, your girlfriend has been kidnapped by a giant ape" but with the whole anthropomorphism of the comic, it would make things too complicated. So no Donkey Kong reference for all of you... it would have upped Sydney to a "cool jerk" rather than a plain old jerk" -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Sydney!

I appreciate Isabel giving him a personality. All I had going for him was that he was named after a city, like Brisbane and Sofia.

It wasn't a very good gimmick, which is Brisbane and Kimberly didn't keep the trend going with their children, Nicole, Dennis, and David. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Introducing new challenger! Sydney pretty much uses Sofia's exact color pallet- which means one less character to add to the big wall of colors. Which I am thankful for. At this point it has not been expressed exactly that they are brothers and sister- but hopefully the casual way he is talking to Brisbane about their underage sister and drinking (and how young he looks) will not confuse people too much. Hell, I'm sure at least one person, hopefully not on .net, was confused as to who he is, especially since commentary was so late. But, here we all are... and Sydney is Brisbane's older brother - Isabel

Modern Commentary
Brisbane slept through Sofia leaving, Kimberly arriving, and Sydney being Sydney?

Yeah. He had a late night gaming and was in a separate bedroom.

I figure that Kimberly left ten minutes ago and that's how long Sydney could contain himself before this little stunt - Terrence

Original Commentary

And what games is this? Why it's the "Slightly push all of Brisbane's buttons and see when he snaps" game. Technically Sydney won- Brisbane just didn't show it. I'm sure the fact that Brisbane knows Sydney considers it a game makes him all the more irritable.-Isabel

Modern Commentary
I'm sure Brisbane bought a suit shortly afterwards. Not immediately, but sooner than he would have if Sydney hadn't said anything. - Terrence

Ego

Original Commentary

I have to wonder just how obnoxious Sydney realizes he is being... I'm sure he's successful enough not to really care what Brisbane's friends think about him. But that to say he isn't trying to be pleasant and give a good impression. He just doesn't know how to- I'm sure where he's from, he makes a good impression from his money and status far before him and the person in question get to talking. The way he looks so much like Sofia is starting to hurt my brain. Oh well, too late. XD Macho Sofia is born. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Of course he hadn't mentioned Sydney. Dude made no effort to be part of Brisbane's life. It's surprising he even showed up. Probably didn't RSVP.

Not like Robert was going to spend a long time around him. - Terrence

Phone

Original Commentary

Note the sound effect in the second panel, placed to imply that it is stopping Robert mid-word. If this were a more artsy comic, I would've had a much larger word-bubble, to hold what Robert intended to say in that panel, but had it be cut-off by the sound-effect (which would be inside the larger bubble) - Terrence

Modern Commentary
That phone ring is Isabel's handwriting font.

I really like the idea of using too-large word bubbles when somebody is cut off, sized for what they meant to say rather than what they actually said.

But also, space is at a premium. Back then, we were concerned about bandwidth. Now everybody reads comics on their phones. I like the concept, but in practice it's a bunch of dead space that might not read properly. - Terrence

charismatic

Original Commentary

Sydney is the much older brother... how much older? No idea... but I'm sure there is a slight generation gap between Brisbane, Sophia and Sydney. Why did Sydney never get married? I'm sure part of it is being so busy that he can't find the time to date or just can't find the right person for him. Personally I think he's just overly picky. Too busy being rich, successful and good looking to find a girl. Silly Sydney. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Does Brisbane have a lot going for him at this point?

No, not really. He's building up to it.

But he has Kimberly and that counts for a lot - Terrence
