happy

Original Commentary

She's got me listening... Sofia's original line in panel three was " Well, she certainly got my attention...", but this one works better... it's more or less the way the line was reading in my head as I drew it, so it was pretty much set into stone.

And if you can't tell, this is a new day, Sofia is in her work outfit, on the way home. When Emily loves to ambush her. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yep, this is the stairway of their apartment building. I wonder how long Emily has been waiting there for Sofia to come by.

Probably not too long; she knows Sofia's schedule better than Sofia does. - Terrence

Sofia
Emily
Evil Plan

Original Commentary

Emily's "I know" was added last minute... I'm glad I did. They both have their own ideas about why lots of booze would be needed not that Sofia is going to be drinking since she's underage and all.-Isabel

Modern Commentary
Between Emily and Dr. Paul, Sofia sure has bad taste in friends. - Terrence

Wednesday, February 20th 2008 - [1080] The night before the wedding (3 of 12)
Sofia
Emily
Brent
naked male dancers

Original Commentary

I meant to digitally enlarge Emily a bit in the middle panel, as that was one of those "fuzzy proportion" moments, but left it as is in the end. I hope it still works... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yep! Back then, you'd look through the yellow pages or the classified ads or something. I think.

I'm surprised Emily doesn't know a dancer or two. But if she does, either she's not talking to them for a reason or they're not talking to her for a reason. - Terrence

Ew

Original Commentary

Jane is over 21. So, does Sofia expect Jane to keep Emily in line (or at least keep her from spending too long in the company of alcohol and scantily-clad men)? Or does she just expect Jane to keep her company in the car? - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Sofia really ought to invest in a Gameboy. I was going to say "bring a book" but you're not getting any reading done in a strip club parking lot. But the Nintendo DS had been out for a few years at this point. - Terrence

Friday, February 22nd 2008 - [1082] The night before the wedding (5 of 12)
Jane
Robert
Bachelorette Party

Original Commentary

Well, Jane expects that she'll keep Sofia company in the car, I think. Anyhow, rowdies is a good word, and describes the kind of people Jane hung out with back in high school and college very well- Terrence

Modern Commentary
I wish we had either done more or less with Jane's past. Either give it a full-on flashback storyline or just not mentioning it. We don't have time to explain everything about everybody, but I feel like I was laying down a foundation with no plans to actually construct anything there - Terrence

Sunday, February 24th 2008 - [1083] The night before the wedding (6 of 12)
Robert
Jane
Bachelorette Party
Innuendo
Kinky

Original Commentary

Robert is just playing along with Jane in panel two- he has no idea what she's talking about, but sometimes it's easier to just agree with Jane than argue with her. originally Jane mentioned the word "naked" in panel five, but even I thought that visual would burn brain cells... dang, there they go anyway. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, if Robert were planning a wild night that would've been a good time to come clean and tell Jane about it.

Except, well, you've met Robert - Terrence
