 Monday, January 28th 2008 - [1060] Sofia's many talents (7 of 24)
Original Commentary
This comics makes (at the least) me wonder just what kind of bathroom arrangement Brent has. Does he go on newspaper, litter (Brent litter?)? Does he go in the grass and has to hold it while Sofia is at work? Ew.
Personally, whatever it may be, I'm sure Sofia taught him how to go in the bathroom (and to flush) because animals that can do that rock in my book. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
You can train cats to use toilets, and brants are a little smarter than cats. And more manipulative.

Original Commentary
Terrence doesn't like the name of the vet's office, but it has to do more with the name of the island more than the actual name of the office. I can understand the woes of dealing with made up names from years upon years ago and how, in retrospect, they can seem silly. But sometimes you have to just live with it- there are plenty of real life places that are equally as silly. Just can't think of one. -Isabel
Actually, I changed it - it was originally "Downtown Hippedown". I changed it to "East Hippedown", because it's less cartoony that way - Terrence Modern Commentary
I probably adapted that letter from one that our vet sent us about our cats

You get the feeling Brent doesn't like many people... high on his list of "not want" are both Emily and Brisbane. I think he sees them as threats. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
When they drive, Brent has to stay in his carrier. Brent has his own bus pass and hopes that he can just ride on his own.
Sofia doesn't see it the same way and will put him in a carrier anyhow. But Brent holds out hope

Original Commentary
I asked Terrence who the little girl in the first panel was, he had no idea. I have two general ideas as to who she is (or could be related to). One is very plausible, the other is just sort of an Easter egg for a possible future that may or may not happen.
Either way, Brent really wants to let some aggression down on that poor fish. -Isabel Modern Commentary
That little girl there is Ester O'Donnell, Charles O'Donnell's half-sister. This is kind of almost a crossover!
- Terrence
The other idea was that she might be more like Nicole or Derek, kind of a possibility of a potential future. I think- Isabel Friday, February 1st 2008 - [1064] Sofia's many talents (11 of 24)
Original Commentary
I'm not sure which one Brent is more mad at: Dr. Paul for poking him or Sofia for bringing him into this situation. Either way, I bet he wishes he could claw their eyes out. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
The vets always ask if my cats have had any vomiting. And I always tell them "Regular amount". Because cats are inherently pukey creatures.
Brants? Much less so. Because if I'm designing a fantasy pet, that feature is right out.

Original Commentary
I ended up adding panel 4 last minute (as some of you may notice, most all the YSIF Sundays are four panels). I just felt a little extra space and time was needed in there, to show Dr. Paul milling over what he should do in his head. The original still has four panels, and the final panel four is in a new unarmed sketch book (the Tori sketch book is missing and the Jun book is virtually done- I do have another one also with a nice canvas cover which has been dubbed the "Isaac" book, but does not bear his picture)- Isabel Modern Commentary
If Brent is feeling grumpy, can you tell?
