 Monday, July 2nd 2007 - [893]A basket for two (7 of 12)
Original Commentary
This background was made for a Namir Deiter Halloween story arc a billion years ago... that one where Snickers was dressed as Kell and Twix and Tom Jones... 2000-somet thing. I don't think I've used it since- so it's long time that it gets to be used again.
Of course, this leads to the question of "are there chicken and pigs in this work the same way there are rabbits and hedgehogs?". I still subscribe to the theory that there are ham and chicken breast trees that grow the meat like corn in husks- very fatty ham trees. I'm sure Terrence has his own ideas on this, but we can't agree so... there's no real answer right now. Just enjoy the comic. I should note that ND and YSIF are not the same as Kevin and Kell- I know it's a "no duh" thing, but every now and then people seem to assume that my world is based on Bill's. This world's rules are pretty much the same as ours except for certain little aspects here and there (like the fur and tails and such). And yes, Brisbane and Kimberly are getting into each other's nerves-Isabel
Modern Commentary
Yeah, they both need to calm down a bit. They're getting snippy and it's not about winning an argument. It's about buying food so you can both eat...- Terrence Tuesday, July 3rd 2007 - [894]A basket for two (8 of 12)
Original Commentary
Finally- some new food... for at least one of the panels, at least. That third panel features... a freezer. Because you need to have the ice cream by the cereal... so you can make smoothies... or something along those lines.-Isabel Modern Commentary
That's the conflict. Wanting to eat junk food versus wanting to be healthy.
I bet there's a place nearby that makes cereal-and-icecream smoothies and charges, like, fifteen bucks for them

Original Commentary
Terrence wanted Kimberly to say "made from" instead of "cut from"... but I liked the mental image that "cutting into something" has. With her bad mood, I'm sure Kimberly wouldn't mind cutting into something right about now...
Seriously, I have no idea what is in bologna and don't want to know... I'm sure it's the kind of thing that once you know, you can never eat again. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
Bologna is a ground pork sausage.
They didn't teach that in the college that Brisbane went to, and the only thing he learned about bologna in vaudeville is that it's a funny word

Original Commentary
For all the time I spent on this comic, it feels a little too busy... sorry. .)) - Isabel
The old wine was for her mother. The fresh fruit was for the whole family, of course - Terrence
Modern Commentary
I like this comic. The bottle distortion in the first panel, lines like "fresh fruit and old wine"...
It's just two lovers walking through a store and talking about their pasts. It's a nice moment.
- Terrence Friday, July 6th 2007 - [897]A basket for two (11 of 12)
Original Commentary
Kimberly's last line was originally "Well, those little kids didn't blow hundreds on a company picnic." I changed it, as I was lettering; it seems a bit snarkier that way - Terrence
Modern Commentary
They're in the checkout lane. There's nothing but impulse buys there. You're not going to find a loaf of french bread there.

Original Commentary
That's the thing about shopping groceries. It's easy to buy something for dinner three days afterwards. But buying something to eat afterwards, especially when you're hungry then, is difficult. But yes, they live by the beach. They just don't go there often - Terrence Modern Commentary
We do this a lot. Order groceries, load up the fridge, and...we'd rather just get a burger or pizza or something. We've got a bunch of food and no drive to cook any of it...
