 Monday, February 5th 2007 - [792]The deal with Brisbane's folks (5 of 7)
Original Commentary
This was originally going to be the comic for last Friday, but with the schedule change, things got moved around.
I always mistake the name of Brisbane's brother as Dennis, which is actually Brisbane's middle name.
I'm glad I had Kimberly hugging Brisbane in that last panel... after all that he really did need one. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
Sofia ended up being central to a lot of relationships. If someone doesn't have a reason to talk to Brisbane or Kimberly, they probably ended up hanging out with Sofia.
"What happened between Brisbane and his parents?" was always one of those concepts that was on the metaphorical board. The story just never developed in that direction

Original Commentary
I am... so sorry... this comic and the one for Friday were meant to be ran as one... there wasn't supposed to be this huge pause... but it's here, so we have to deal with it, I suppose.
Terrence had me change the first use of the word "people" to "folks" in the first panel, as one to many people looked weird... don't really have much to add to this one, other than Terrence and myself are at odds about just what lead to Brisbane being kicked out of his parents house... maybe once we're awake, we'll discuss it more. -Isabel Modern Commentary
I don't think Brisbane's parents were ever mentioned in Nicole and Derek either. If they met Nicole (and Dennis and David), they weren't a major fixture in their lives.

Original Commentary
I try not to make the characters too much like myself or Terrence... but that first panel there is such a Terrence thing for Brisbane to say (don't worry, there's nothing to that...)
I actually ended up flipping the first panel horizontally because the character were facing the wrong way (something I usually try not to do, but I think it worked out ok). I ended up changinag the last panel to this comic as well, as I wasn't to found of the last one.
This was the original script:
K- Desperate?
B- ...um... I was thinking more hopeful. But whatever works for you.
It made Kimberly sound way too much like she was just settling for Brisbane, while in the current draft, she's just plain horny (which is what I had originally wanted to change her line to... but YSIF has a little more class, at least more than ND). -Isabel
Modern Commentary
Yeah, if Brisbane wasn't so Brisbane, Nicole would have been two years older...
It was entirely Brisbane's idea to try to build to the perfect moment; Kimberly always was the practical one in that relationship.
