Original Commentary

This is the happiest I think I've ever drawn Sofia looking (well, within the web comics, anyway...). Sofia isn't really a "pet" person, but she seems to be a "Brent" person. It just hasn't been poor Brisbane's day; it looks like he's losing his little bitey friend. I'm sure once his hands heal up, he'll get over it. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
"and everything coincidentally works out for everybody" isn't a punchline you can use all the time, but it's one of my favorites.

I'll try to keep track and see if it comes up again. In some genres of story, you know the good guys are going to win and the dramatic tension involves suspension of disbelief. You know, for example, that The Muppets are going to come out mostly alright in a Muppet movie.

But we just had Brisbane and Kimberly break up for a few months, so there's no guarantees here now.- Terrence

Original Commentary

We haven't seen a lot of the beach outside since they broke up. Brisbane and Sofia's colors, along with the outside beach colors look very festive.

Sofia's room has this old fashioned looking furniture. When Sofia first got it, it looked like leaf gold trimming with a cream body but over the years it has aged and darkened. But the set cost so much that her parents wouldn't let her get a new one when the colors changed, despite her kicking and screaming and biting Brisbane. Which is probably where he got his high tolerance for being bitten by Brent

Note that Kimberly asked Brisbane about it - she wanted to get rid of Brent, but asked him first because he liked it a lot. And Brisbane was willing to make that sacrifice to make Kimberly, Sofia, and Brent happy - Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, Sofia's old bedroom is getting repurposed. The message is one part "We want you to have a full set of furniture" and two parts "It's not your bedroom any more; you cannot move back in". - Terrence

Original Commentary

Terrence and I have been having a few interesting discussions about Sofia and the person she was two years ago (during Unlike Minerva) and the person she is now. We're both in agreement that she has greatly changed, yet has stayed basically the same... but the details are currently still being ironed out. Needless to say it was the kind of discussion that will be not leaving the room as of yet.

originally Sofia was going to be tripping over a can of "Brent food", but I couldn't get it to look right, so now she is just plain tripping, over her own words... and her own feet. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Does Sofia have bad luck? I'm not sure. She is unprepared for the challenges of the real world, and that's its own kind of bad luck. - Terrence

Why not both? - Isabel
