Original Commentary
Like I said. Most of the time, he's better than nothing

I get the feeling Robert would say he wanted whatever gender of child they ended up having... but you just know he'd want a little boy... who would proceed to walk all over him (or crawl... ) -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Well, what else is he going to talk about? He already told her about the new Final Battle Adventure Online event

But yeah, I think Jane's biggest concern is if this is going to be how her life is from now on... - Terrence

Original Commentary
In his defense, it's got to be 3:30 AM by now. - Terrence

And yes, there was a first. Of course, whether or not Robert would be the first fictional man to have a baby is up for debate. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Society has moved fast over the last fifteen or so years.

Trans rights are human rights. Trans men are men. Trans women are women. There are a good number of men and non-binary folks out there who have given birth. Or perhaps it's always been like that and now those folks feel more comfortable talking about it.

I'd like to think that we were a little ahead of the curve at the time. The curve has moved, and it's good that it moved. Gender can be complicated and personal. Now it's perhaps behind the curve and we would express things differently now - Terrence

Original Commentary
I don't think there's much we can add here. - Terrence

If she had been pregnant, Robert definitely would've been happier about it. He was more open to the idea than she was which is why she was holding herself in a little more. - Isabel

Modern Commentary
There's a world where Robert was good company during dinner, where he waited patiently and distracted her when she got anxious. This is not that world...

This isn't when they broke up, but I think this is when Jane started realizing that this wasn't how she wanted her life to go. I don't think she knew exactly what she wanted from Robert or how to express it, just that he wasn't providing it.

I mean, they weren't ready for it. Having a baby wouldn't have fixed their relationship. There was no winning here. - Terrence

Tired

Original Commentary
Of the two of them, Robert would be more willing to have the baby. Physically, I mean. If it were possible - Isabel

Modern Commentary
And the theme of this is "failure to communicate"... - Terrence

Cooties

Original Commentary
And by 'cootie shot', we mean more permanent, reliable birth control - Isabel

Modern Commentary
Last night, Robert wasn't acting like this was a joyous occasion or like he was ready to enter the next phase of his life. If he really would have liked it if Jane were pregnant, he could have done something to actually show her... - Terrence
