Original Commentary
This is one of the first comics I wrote in this arc. I've been writing it in pieces, and I had added about four comics between this comic and the previous one. Unfortunately, I hadn't updated Isabel's copy of the script. Why? Because I keep non-comic notes and unfinished things - like what day of the week it is, and what folks are doing behind the scenes. Anyhow, this means that I have to adjust things a bit. This works in my favor, since I was at a difficult place in the script - Terrence

Modern Commentary
And another costume change. That would make this Friday, which can't be right. This is one of the reasons why I like having a comic with Brisbane and Kimberly at home. That way the workday ends.

The problem is that I don't like doing that unless I'm sure that there's nothing else I need to do that day and I don't decide that until late in the process... - Terrence

Kimberly
Brisbane

Original Commentary
There are only 73 employees at Lemon Tech (well, currently 72 since Miz Taylor is out). Each one serves a very specific purpose... except Brisbane, which is why is he currently not doing his job as Secretary to be Kimberly's second in command.

I think Brisbane and Kimberly missed their true calling... with that kind of timing they would have been a natural comedy duo. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Are things slow in delivery or are they preparing because they run things efficiently over there?

Ideally, the delivery manager would know who would be a good fit for cross-training in the marketing department. However, Brisbane and Kimberly aren't really sure what they're doing. - Terrence

Worry
Annoyed

Original Commentary
Originally, this comic took place at Brisbane and Kimberly's house, and Kimberly mentioned a series of meetings the next day. That idea didn't really lead anywhere, so it has been removed. Why is Kimberly telling Brisbane to do the reading? She's busy figuring out how to run the company. -Terrence

Modern Commentary
"How to find the right employees for the right position" is a problem that a lot of clever people have spent a lot of time on.

But this is kind of what leadership is. Figure out what the problem is. Figure out what tools you need to solve it, and decide how to apply those tools. Unfortunately, they have neither expertise nor time on their side here. - Terrence

Dan
Worry

Original Commentary
It's been a long time since we've seen Dan, I've missed him. Over the course of the four years YSIF has been going on, I realized I have a soft spot for the male characters, but not really for most of the female characters. The women in YSIF are a lot harder than the ones in ND, I suppose. -Isabel

This is a bit wordy, because it was originally two comics. It got combined into one, to time the Sunday better and because they each moved the plot about a half-step forward - Terrence

Modern Commentary
The legal and accounting departments are probably two or three people.

Brisbane and Kimberly probably should have talked to Dan earlier, but I can see them being a bit stubborn about being able to handle things themselves. - Terrence

Kimberly
Brisbane
Worry

Original Commentary
I'm sure they went to their favorite little non-authentic hole in the wall. Kimberly grew up with her mother not worrying too much about her. In turn, Kimberly has little concern for her mother... however after three days, even she has to start worrying. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Here we are - a definite end-of-day comic. They left the office and came home. Probably all the good takeaway places were closed. - Terrence

Kimberly
Patrick

Original Commentary
(But really it's just Dan's office background file with a color swap). I enjoy drawing Patrick angry... almost too much. Of course, as of late he's had a lot to be angry about... before Kimberly left the two of them were in charge of things- now he's doing the work of two people alone (and only has the stimulating conversationalist Richard and Sinclair....). That would make anyone bitter. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I mean, a person could do both of those things. They aren't full-time jobs.

Patrick doesn't have a high opinion of Brisbane's ability to do two things at once, though. - Terrence

Original Commentary
Yes, this pretty much sums up Lola and Mr. Taylor. Neither of whom are much anything to do with the plot at this point. However, this comic does something very important - it establishes that Kimberly has indeed been doing something. Brisbane has been out looking for Ms. Taylor. Kimberly is back in the office, looking over the paper files, typing some of them up, trying to make sense of things - Terrence

Modern Commentary
OCR (optical character recognition) is significantly better now than it was in 2008. You could just scan the documents in as searchable copies, probably.

But re-typing everything means you need to actually look at it, read it, and understand it. I hope she didn't re-type everything. But her goal is to understand the parts of the company that aren't immediately visible.

But also, this is action-for-the-sake-of-action. She needs to do something and this is something, therefore she is doing it. - Terrence
