Original Commentary
So, what happened during the rest of the day Miz Taylor returned? We now know that Jane had to go home... yeah, I'm sure this was an easy one to guess, but we both felt we needed to tie together some of the smaller loose ends from the previous arc. Since it was so tied into the previous arc, Terrence had to write this arc as well. Which was why this set of comics were so late. In fact, in their first run, the entire week was posted in one day. So we did an entire story arc in one day. -Isabel Modern Commentary
I'm glad this one has a short separate epilogue. Sometimes, we focus on the post-action for a bit. On one hand, folks say "in late, out early" for choosing what bits to include in a scene. On the other hand, the emotional impact is what this comic is about and it makes sense to have them discuss things.

Poor Sandra... looks like she is out of a job, even though it was the plan that she would only be a temp, I can't help but miss her. Did she finish the catalogue in time? Is Patrick going to have to go to his father's birthday party? those are all questions for another day... -Isabel
Another repurposed strip. I had originally planned on having Jane instead of Sandra as the temp. The first panel-and-a-half was originally written with the two of them. Then there was much shuffling of feet and avoiding of eye contact as Kimberly realized she left her friend without a job. This is a bit less of a downer ending - Terrence Modern Commentary
Sandra is embarassed about asking Kimberly to lie for her. Patrick is considerably less innocent and would be shameless.
I wonder if Sandra ever got paid. Honestly, probably not. Fortunately, she doesn't really need the money.

Original Commentary
It's been a while since we've seen Mr. and Mrs. Taylor's apartments. I don't recall the last time we saw Mr. Taylor's apartment, but I had to go to Silent Emotion (a bonus book way back from February 2007) to find the color. With my luck, we've seen it more recently with a different color (Ah well... maybe it was a different room?). Who is Herbert? This story arc can help shed some light on the issue, although he is never directly named. Terrence gets bonus points for bringing that bit up. -Isabel Modern Commentary
"Where were you going with this Herbert thing?", you ask.
Forward. We were going forward. There's a lot about Ms. Taylor that we don't know about. Nobody that she'd tell it about who'd need to ask.
Also, yes. Brisbane called Mr. Taylor about this. I'm going to guess that he left a voicemail asking if Mr. Taylor had seen his ex recently then, two weeks later, sent another voicemail telling him not to worry. Mr. Taylor never called back.

Original Commentary
Miz Taylor having to go through her fridge (and more than likely throwing away most all of it's contents) and Mr. Taylor's annoyance with the thought of his father were last minute things I added in.
And now we know the most important piece of information from this arc, and in my opinion of the last arc as well. This was an idea we played with all the way back in the summer. It's always great to see an idea placed in motion and followed though with.-Isabel
Yes, Grandpa Taylor decided his son wasn't going to run the company a while ago. Anyhow, why is this only mentioned in the epilogue? Because the arc was about Brisbane and Kimberly - Terrence Modern Commentary
When Mr. Taylor asks how Grandpa Taylor is doing, the implication is that they don't really talk. It's not just the business that he got pushed out from.

Original Commentary
One of the first ideas we had was for there to be an entire arc dedicated to a retelling of those two weeks from Miz Taylor's perspective. But, well, we never thought the arc would go 80 some odd comics. Even though it would not have taken another 80 comics, it wouldn't really be just a week... so instead we got the condensed version. It wasn't really all that important why she took two weeks, but why she left in the first place. She was originally just going to be gone the weekend, which was why she didn't mention this trip to anyone. Come to think of it, even if she did take a few planned days off, she wouldn't have told anyone from the company just WHY she went out in the first place. Also, the events in this arc were the reason she left in the first place. Funny how one chair can change things so. -Isabel
There was originally going to be more time between Chair Troubles and this arc; it was meant as a quick prelude. But since Isabel put this into play, the hold music pretty much had to cause Ms. Taylor to visit her father-in-law. Anyhow, Ms. Taylor has a documented tendency to do stupid, impulsive things when she's angry. She's aware of it, and doesn't want to this time. Unfortunately, both characters are two polite to mention it. She also didn't have a chance to use the "if I raised you right" line on Kimberly, so here it is. Had to show up at least once - Terrence Modern Commentary
"If his mother raised him right" was going to be one of Ms. Taylor's catchphrases. It showed up maybe five times. Not enough to really catch on.
Anyhow, how did Mr. Taylor know that Constance reacted poorly when she didn't get what she wanted? Well, they used to be married. That's my favorite thing about these two. She doesn't have to tell him that she yelled at the captain. He knows because he knows her. I can leave a lot unsaid when these two talk
