I had been kicking this idea around for a bit, and this seemed like a very good time. It's not often that we I have an arc definitely take place immediately after the previous one, but this is set, at most, a few hours after the wedding finished. -Terrence

Modern Commentary
I like writing Mr. and Ms. Taylor. It isn't easy sometimes, but when it all comes together it's fun. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Bit of a jump here in their location, but not conversation... I'm sure it was a very quite awkward cab ride that silenced them- there are just some things you can't say with a cab driver in hearing distance. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
So, who divorced who? Well, at that point neither of them wanted to be around the other. It was mutual and complicated. Much like their current relationship. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Mr. Taylor is a romantic, in the way he handles his business and love life. Miz Taylor is a realist in both fields as well. They say opposites attract and I think these two prove it.

Although Brisbane and Kimberly seem to be fairing far better than those two did in the same situation (which has to do with Brisbane's fairly weak personality- or rather, if Kimberly had an idea or wanted all the power, chances are he'd give to her to avoid a fight). -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, Grandpa Taylor is kind of the root of the main conflicts in the series.

But note that neither of them is exactly suggesting that Brisbane and Kimberly get a raise - Terrence

Original Commentary

For the full (or, at the least a third party version) story behind the Lemon Tech. building and Mr. and Mrs. Taylor's problems, please see "The new guy". Will we ever get to fully hear both their sides on what happens? Perhaps... maybe even a little in this arc, or maybe not, Terrence is writing this, so I only know so much beforehand. Not a bad thing some days. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
There's always a balance between explaining everything to new readers who don't know who these characters are, versus the fact that these two have been in each others lives for decades.

I'm always going to err on the side of readability, though. Same reason I have everybody call each other by names, despite the fact that they all know each other well enough to not need to do that - Terrence

Original Commentary

Terrence and myself have very different ideas on what's going on with Mr. and Miz. Taylor and this comic is a pretty big example of this. Personally, it pains me to see them fighting like this, but Terrence feels it's best for the characters and fits them. It still makes me a bit sad, I don't like the idea of Kimberly's parents that... that way. Makes me worry for Brisbane a bit. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
As you know, they have an on-again, off-again relationship.

And it was probably off-again back when she hired the model, which was probably a few weeks ago.

Would she have done they planned ahead and she knew Mr. Taylor was coming? I mean, probably not. Unless they got into a fight between now and then (which is a very high chance)

She likes Mr. Taylor, but she's not about to pre-emptively rearrange her life for him - Terrence

And the afterglow quickly starts to fade under the halogen lights... since Terrence is writing these comics, I had to ask him beforehand which room they were in- it's a good thing I did to, since the first panel originally had them still in bed. It would have been (slightly) difficult to explain why Miz Taylor had a fridge in her bed room (that wasn't a mini fridge full of vodka and diet cherry cola...) -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, I don't see Ms. Taylor cooking much.

Note that this is different from the refrigerator gags we've done with Brisbane and Kimberly. They have food, but not in a combination that you can make into a coherent meal. Ms. Taylor just doesn't have food.

But also, her daughter's wedding just happened. She hasn't had time to cook or shop for groceries - Terrence

Original Commentary

Terrence is doing a smashing job writing this week, hasn't he? You really get the feeling that things are slowly unraveling right before your eyes... you want to root for them, yet at the same time, you just want them to have a caged match to get all that anger out. I did have to add one little line to the first panel, to explain just what he is doing within the comic (otherwise it just look like Mr. Taylor has very... purple, taste in clothing). -Isabel

So, yes. They're old and cunning. They used to be married and know how the other thinks, which is why they're both working about three moves ahead in this particular chess game - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Of course, this is the other possibility - that Ms. Taylor knew this might happen and this is a calculated move to let him know that this is her space. He might visit sometimes, but he shouldn't get too comfortable - Terrence
