Original Commentary

Some of you may notice the wallpaper in the background is the same as the one in the room Kimberly was in when she was preparing for the wedding a few weeks back. Now does that mean that they are indeed staying the area for their Honeymoon? Well... maybe, maybe not. We are intentionally leaving that part ambiguous, for good reason. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Regarding the old commentary, I'm not entirely sure where we were going with that, but we probably considered doing a bonus book featuring the touristy parts of their honeymoon or revealing that they visited Sherup, where Isabel's comic Namir Deiter is set. As far as the wallpaper being the same, well, maybe some places have the same wallpaper.

As much as we loved the idea of a crossover, we ran in to the problem of "Our characters are all regular people. Why would they encounter each other and, if they did, why would they connect?"

I'm sure we could come up with something but the trick is making it not seem like a contrived coincidence - Terrence

Brisbane
Kimberly

Original Commentary

As mentioned in previous commentaries, Brisbane and Kimberly more or less alternate between rooms, for a change of pace (and as a way of compromising- as Kimberly did not want to lose her room, but wanted to sleep in the same room as Brisbane). Although as of late they have mostly been using Brisbane's sheets in Kim's room (because I hate coloring her sheets). -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Kimberly's sheets are those blue plaid ones, based on sheets that we had at the time.

We were overly concerned about location continuity and home colors. On one hand, it helps reinforce familiarity with the location. You see that teal and you know Brisbane and Kimberly are at home.

But on the other hand, folks don't keep track of every little thing; our characters can buy new sheets. And if we've got Kimberly lying on those sheets, none of our readers are going to write to us and complain about what color they are - Terrence

Original Commentary

If Brisbane really wanted to move in, he would have mentioned that they could have turned his old room into a walk-in closet for Kimberly... the way to a woman's heart.

Besides we know Brisbane's other plans for that room... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
So the original script ended with Brisbane suggesting that they get a desk for his old room to replace the bed.

Then Kimberly says that they'd get more use out of the extra bed...unless...

And yeah, the punchline wasn't quite there; it came across as both a little too crass and a little too vague.

I like Brisbane's smile in that last panel. He's not upset that his idea got shot down; it was reasonable, but she pointed out the flaws he hadn't thought of. He's glad he had this conversation with his wife. I like this dynamic between them. And maybe his next idea will be a winner - Terrence

Original Commentary

Who could possibility be unhappy at the idea of unopened gifts- even if what's inside them might be something kind of boring, like wool socks. When they are unopened, they are a symbol of hope and dreams... and wool socks. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
So very domestic, isn't it? - Terrence

Original Commentary

Because we did this with our wedding presents, that's why. I'm still not sure how we figured everything out. And to answer your question, it was a sleeve button. Brisbane was having trouble getting his shirt off, so Kimberly decided to give it a tug, and the button popped off - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Yeah, I'm going to overrule Original Commentary Terrence here. It was a button from the front of the shirt. She ripped a dress shirt clean off of him during the honeymoon because she wanted him naked right then.

Seriously, why did I bother writing a joke about Kimberly unwrapping Brisbane if I was just going to undermine it in the comments? Was I just being contrarian? - Terrence

Original Commentary

Originally, the question of "Who is V.L. Gill" was answered in this comic, but I've been trying to add more suspense to the comic. It's more difficult, when the comic is about two normal people leading normal lives than it would be if it were about mercenaries or bootleggers or such. As a result, when I see a chance like this come along, I grab it. Sorry, folks - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Seriously, I need to be better about trying to find a hook to get people curious to read the next comic. That and finding a good way to pitch the comic itself. - Terrence

Original Commentary

So what are the names of the Lounge guys? I have no idea what so ever. They are Terrence's characters and I don't think even he knows. I don't even know what they do for a living- or rather did. With all the time they have, they must be old enough to live on a Pension. But it works for them. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, they didn't have names at that point. One of them might be named something embarassing for all we know.

Anyhow, mystery is solved next strip. Since the "invite potential clients to the wedding" plot element got cut, there weren't too many other candidates - Terrence
