Original Commentary

Hooray for talking head comics! A lot of character just sitting around talking about doing things this week... and now we find a bit more about the wedding plans. We didn't really find out much about the wedding beforehand, did we? Hmm... ah well. Didn't want the comic to turn into a wedding comic, as I am trying to keep ND from becoming a "baby comic" (and only doing a half-assed job at it D:)

Robert really asserted himself in this comic... must have been because he was sitting down... and over the phone... and the conversation was with his other best friend Jake. Um, yeah. Way to be, Robert. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Jake is friends with Brisbane. They play video games and fix electroics together. It just doesn't come up much and they're not really close.

I think half of their time in-comic together was that FBAO Solar Globe storyline. - Terrence

Original Commentary

And I'm sure ogling at girls on-line (i.e., the half naked elves or dancing type fighters) move about does not count in Jake's book. Good, maybe he's not as far gone that he can't get help. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Neither of us did the bachelor(ette) party thing. Just seems distasteful to do that right before the wedding. The point of getting married is that you want to spend your life with somebody and having one big night where "the wife can't stop me since we're not married yet" is a recipe for disaster.

At least if Emily plans it. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Hey look, Jane is making a special cameo appearance... at the cafe she works at. Hmm... maybe it's not that special.

There are far too many 80's movies that start out with a bachelor getting a surprise bachelor party (sometimes without an actual wedding involved). Ok, I made that last part up... ok I made the last two parts up. I'm sure if such a movie existed in the 80's, I was (and probably still am) not allowed to watch it. That goes double for Brisbane, Jake and Robert. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yeah, nobody involved in planning the party or making the comic knows how these things are "supposed" to go.

Is it supposed to be a surprise? Is that just something that we picked up from sitcoms or late-night comedy movies?

It seems like that's a bad idea. It gives the groom plausible deniability but it also puts the groom in situations that require plausible deniability and that doesn't seem like a good trade-off - Terrence

half naked girls..

Original Commentary

Yeah, Brisbane didn't respond to Kimberly's... declaration of love in panel 3. He was too busy playing video games. Silly boy.

We don't really see much of Brisbane and Kimberly in this arc, despite the fact that it's about the day before their own wedding. Oh well. You'll be sick of them by the end of things (I fear). XD -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Final Battle Adventure Online, where the men are men and the half-naked dancing girls are probably Cedric. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Wasn't this entire arc started and moved solely on Emily and Sofia's plans to give Kimberly a bachelorette party? Oh well, Kimberly looks like she's having a much better time (and rest) there. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Kimberly has a better time this way...

I don't know what she was expecting, but I think her best-case scenario involves Lola inviting all the girls over to watch old wrestling tapes.

Which still involves oiled up men in skimpy outfits, so is it really that different? - Terrence

Original Commentary

So how did our underage darling Sofia end up with a slurred voice and in some deep trouble? She's with Emily... and well, it's best left at that. Sofia and Emily usually are trouble together...- Isabel

Modern Commentary
That's the other reason why bachelor(ette) parties are a bad idea the night before. You've got a big, expensive, time-sensitive thing planned.

I'm personally anxious enough with a wedding. Add in a wild party going late into the night and I'd rather just stay home and try to sleep - Terrence
