No, a real company wouldn't use a 5-year-old PC to serve their website. They'd have a server built specifically for the job. But Lemon Technology doesn't sell to the public. The only reason they even have a website is because Robert insisted - Terrence

Modern Commentary
"Geatway Computers" was originally from Spare Parts.

It's based on Gateway computers, which was one of the largest personal computer retailers in the early 2000s, and the Geats, a tribe that lived in what is now Sweden. They're most famous now for Beowulf - Terrence

Original Commentary

The "new computer" is significantly less powerful than their current one. It reminds me of a place I used to work for, where they'd give obsolete computers to a company that'd re-sell them at inflated prices to people who didn't know how to get a proper computer. If they got a computer that was recent, they'd wait a few years for it to become obsolete, then give it away. Man, am I glad I'm not working there - Terrence

Modern Commentary
So, back in the mid 2000s - and moreso, the 1990s which were in recent memory - there were leaps and bounds being made in computer performance. A 2002 computer would be a serious step down from a 2007 computer. - Terrence

So how long does it take for someone to get a computer hooked up to a wireless network? I have no idea... all I know is that it takes me a very long time to get my computer back on the network if it breaks... if at all. I get the feeling me and Brisbane pretty much have the same amount of computer expertise. Poor guy. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Yep! The point of all this was to get Kimberly online at the same time. She wouldn't spend money on a separate computer, not when she could just tell Brisbane it's time to log off... - Terrence

Original Commentary

What else was Kimberly supposed to do? Considering the last time she was stuck in the house (unemployed- not sick) all she did was booger off on the computer.

Terrence had made a comment to me mentioning that Kimberly was being a bit controlling in this comic... I don't think she was anymore controlling than usual. She was uncomfortable about this person (a person who she does not know at all- and Brisbane knows only in-game) talking with her fiance about personal matters, thought about doing something to stop it but respected Brisbane enough not to do it... I would be more concerned about her being on his account in the first place. Although considering she knew his password, he must have given it to her... unless he's one of those people with just one password for everything... but since he isn't even freaked out about her being on his account, so he must have known (or given her permission). I don't think Kimberly is very trusting of people in general, and while she trusts Brisbane... she can only do it to a point, then she gets a bit nervous. When you've been dropped and picked up again (only to once again be dropped) by the people who supposedly love you all your life- it's hard to have complete trust in anyone, no matter how much you may want to. If you have no idea what I'm talking about or where I'm coming from- congratulations.

So, Terrence... all I'm saying is, she could have done allot more damage to his friends list if she felt she really needed to, but THINKING about it isn't a crime. Rwar.-Isabel

Modern Commentary
Kimberly and Joy cannot get along with each other. This is a fundamental truth of who they are.

They've interacted a little in the NamirDeiter.net bonus comics, but I think it's mostly been in our understanding of the characters rather than the comics themselves.

I feel bad that we never got them to meet during Nicole and Derek, where Joy is Kimberly's daughter's high school principal. - Terrence

Original Commentary

The first rule of Final Battle Adventure Online is "Never give out your password (it's not cool)". Kimberly follows the rules. Smart Kimberly.

Kimberly is still mad from the previous comic, of course. Would she give her password out otherwise? Probably not, but she'd at least consider it - Terrence and Isabel

Modern Commentary
There are a lot of games that have rules against password sharing, not because they really care if two people play the same account, but because they don't want to get involved if you and your friend have a disagreement. That way the official response is "well, we told you not to do that in the first place" - Terrence

Original Commentary

It... hasn't quite dawned on Kimberly just why losing five hours of game play would be a bad thing... that's like one intense weekend of playing (not counting the time Brisbane and Kimberly were broken up and he did nothing but play). She just assumes he likes to play for the sake of playing and numbers mean nothing to him.

I think the 10% rule is from Maple Story... or was it 5%? I forget... but it's still a nasty thing when that 10% = five hours of your life you'll never get back. Stoopid green slime bunnies... -Isabel

Modern Commentary
You don't lose xp in MapleStory when you die any more. They've been slowly removing the old systems that aren't fun and replacing them with new ones.

As Katelyn said several years later, about losing progress in FBAO "If you enjoy this game, then what's the problem? Now you get to play more.".

I disagree with her but can't explain why - Terrence
