Original Commentary

Most of this story arc is written... a little more than half. This drives me nuts... so why is it taking so long? Well, I already know what's going to happen within the story arc, including all the timing and most of the panels are visualized... unfortunately, I'm having a hard time getting the right words down that explain things the way they should be and making sure I get everything as right on as I can. It is, quite frankly, very unnerving and might be part of why I haven't been sleeping right the last couple of days.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring more writing and an end to this arc, at least in TextPad. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Does anyone else think that those voices could be creepy? Speech synthesis has come a long way in the last few decades.

This used to be every day for Kimberly, back before Brisbane moved in and You Say it First started. She's not used to coming home to a quiet house any more... - Terrence

Brant
Brent
Kimberly
Mistake

Original Commentary

One thing that I didn't mention too much in yesterday's commentary was the way Kimberly sees Brent. She understands that he's a living being and takes care of him, but she doesn't really like him much. She's not talking to him. She's talking to herself and he happens to be there. As strange as it sounds, she's not anthropomorphizing him - Isabel

Modern Commentary
I mean, Brisbane was the one that left. He should be the one to reach out to Kimberly. But also, Kimberly knows Brisbane. She knows how he is about confrontation and conflict.

I'm pretty sure this is the only time that Kimberly reaches out to Emily in the comic. Emily got Kimberly that data entry job at the beginning of You Say it First, but that was offscreen and I'm not entirely sure who initiated that conversation. - Terrence

Emily
David
date

Original Commentary

And once again, the return of Emily's horribly bright room. I was tempted to adjust the brightness and contrast of the comic so it's not as bright but I decided against it. Emily wouldn't have it that way. If I didn't think it would hurt peoples eyes, I would've had it more of a neon color - Isabel

Modern Commentary
I'm surprised that David owns a suit. He probably didn't before he started dating Emily.

As you'll see, Emily is just saying what she needs to say to make this date happen. Kimberly hasn't worked there for, like, maybe eight months. She didn't really socialize with anyone there if she could help it. There probably aren't too many folks there who remember her. - Terrence

Emily
David
Kimberly
Date
Dirk
It Was Hate At First Bite

Original Commentary

In a way, I'm kind of glad that these two comics were next to each other. It would've been a very awkward 24 hours otherwise. Now people won't be worried about what's going to happen - will Kimberly end up with this guy or what. It took away some of the suspense of the comic, but I don't think the comic needs much more suspense right now - Isabel

Modern Commentary
Brisbane would've liked the eggplant parmesan.

Moreso, Brisbane would've eaten the eggplant parmesan whether he liked it or not.

I'm not sure if Kimberly and Dirk are underdressed for this or if Emily and David are overdressed. Given that Emily was able to change up her reservation with two hours notice, it's probably the latter.

Sometimes, you go to a fancy place. Sometimes you go to a place and make it fancy. - Terrence

Friday, December 9th 2005 - [468]Looking forward to the New Year (5 of 48)
Emily
Kimberly
Date

Original Commentary

Emily seems to be a bit surprised because, if anything, she's gotten used to Kimberly being mad at her. As you can see, Kimberly didn't dress up, and neither did her date.

Of course, with Kimberly's mood, this might be her idea of dressing up. I know when I'm in a funk, anything beyond slippers and PJs is dressing up - Isabel

Modern Commentary
Emily isn't making excuses for Dirk to set up a second date with him. She's making excuses for Dirk to set up another first date between Kimberly and someone else.

That and Emily knows that Kimberly needs more positivity in her life right now, so just try being positive... - Terrence

Brisbane
Robert
Jake
FBAO
Silver Blossom
Joy
Replacement Rabbit

Original Commentary

Level 50 represents an investment of several dozen hours. How many dozens depends a lot on where and how you play. Robert's reaction is mixed. On one hand, his friend is burying himself in the game instead of dealing with his problems. On the other hand, they can play together, at least until Brisbane out-levels him - Terrence

Modern Commentary
What is this, a crossover episode?

Silver_Blossom is played by Joy from Namir Deiter. Joy plays Silver_Blossom on the Hippedown server and, less frequently, SilverBlossom (no underscore) on the Sherup server.

The game has a few different regional servers with slightly different content. I don't think we ever said why Joy plays on the Hippedown servers. It's partly that she likes the region-exclusive areas, but mainly it came out a few months earlier in Hippedown so she just started playing it there. - Terrence
