Original Commentary
More foreshadowing of impending doom over at Brisbane's workplace as well.

Modern Commentary
...so apparently, Brisbane had a half-day today?
Kimberly was a few minutes late, got fired immediately, and came back home.
Is Kimberly's commute a lot longer? But if she woke up at 9:30 then got to work at 9:15, that can't be it. She's got a commute that's physically impossible already...
I'm going to say that Brisbane didn't go to work at all today, because otherwise the timetable works even less. I wrote this. I just wasn't paying much attention to the schedule, apparently. - Terrence

Original Commentary
It's always a shock to find out you have just been fired, even if you hated your job. That shock usually doesn't go away till you get the a paycheck from the next place, just so you can sit back and dread the process all over again...

Modern Commentary
I think that demanding to get holidays off may have been a factor. That'll get you on the troublemaker list in a lot of places, even if you're nice about it which Kimberly probably wasn't. - Terrence

Ever Efficient

Original Commentary
You can really tell a lot about a person by the way they handle stressful situations, but even I'm not sure what Kimberly's reaction to losing her job means. And by the look on his face, neither does Brisbane.

Modern Commentary
Since they haven't worked for a full year, they'll get a good chunk of their withheld tax money back. No point letting the government hold on to it longer.
But also, these are anxiety plans. The point is to direct energy to something. If you end up with a useful plan, that's a bonus. But the goal is to dissipate nervous energy and wear yourself out, then you calm down and come up with a reasonable plan. - Terrence

Panic

Original Commentary
It's always a bad sign when they go right into selling off their belongings. This of course is a reference to the comic that aired on March 3rd 2004 that showed that in fact everything that Brisbane owned can fit in one box (fortunately Kimberly has since taken him out shopping for slacks).

Modern Commentary
Anxiety plans.
Impractical, but it keeps her moving.
Kimberly can get $3 for a used box, though.- Terrence

Not 35?

Original Commentary
What rational woman CAN'T find 30 broken TVs a week?

Modern Commentary
It's funny what stays with you. By which I mean, "I can find thirty broken TVs a week" has become a free-floating punchline between Isabel and I.

Also, they don't have a yard to have a yard sale in.- Terrence

Fired

Modern Commentary
This is the second or third time that Brisbane really should've quit while he was ahead.
I think my time doing data entry was two or three days at most. It wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad. Most jobs are designed to go on forever. There's always more meals to cook, more cellphones to repair, more customers to check out, more shelves to stock. The entire point of a full-time job is that they're a regular thing and there's a steady amount of work that needs doing. - Terrence
