Jane

Worried

Original Commentary
There's a fine line between helpful and nosy. - Terrence

Of course, Jane never has a purse on her- or any of the other characters for the most part. I figure all the women carry really dainty little wallets on them or just don't carry anything. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
And once again, Robert tries but misunderstands. He wants to help. But wanting to help isn't enough sometimes.

But if he's here, he should be doing something helpful, shouldn't he? - Terrence

Original Commentary
The box says "First Choice Pregnancy Test". That's a real brand. We're not endorsing it, simply because we don't have an informed opinion on such things. We're simply stating that it's there. - Terrence

The pregnancy test didn't come out as legible has I had planned. Remind me not to hand letter for super small boxes in the future. >< -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Wow, a double-decker comic on a weekday.

Also, Original Commentary Terrence was wrong. Not aware of First Choice being a real brand of pregnancy test. There's First Response, but that's not quite the same.

This was back in 2009, back before drugstores kept everything locked up in plastic cases. However, some high-value and/or embarassing items still got locked up. Probably took Jane a while to get someone to unlock the pregnancy tests. - Terrence

Resolve
Late

Original Commentary
This is a lot for Robert to process at once, especially at 3 AM. Not that he's doing a great job at it. But it's a lot for him to process. - Terrence

The pad of paper and pens in the sale signs came from a old ND background that was from an office supply store. Luckily for me we're in "back to school" season, so it makes sense that a drug store would have those things advertised. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Jane's plan was to buy the test, use it in the store's restroom, then check it when they got back to Robert's place.

It could've worked. - Terrence

Original Commentary
Jane tries to be the strong one in the relationship, but she can only be so strong for so long. As unreliable as Robert may be, in most cases he's better than nothing

The originally idea for this arc was to just have a random adventure between Robert and Jane. However, as I was writing, I had a feeling Jane had an another motive for all this thus the idea for going to the store was born. Jane isn't the kind of girl who would up and say she needs something- she's the one who's supposed to give. But of course, if she had just up and said it, wacky hi jinks would not have ensued. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I mean, is Robert better than nothing? I think Jane's night would've gone better if he hadn't been there and she knows it. - Terrence

Jane

Waiting
Worry

Original Commentary
I'm not sure what Jane expected from Robert, but this isn't it. Jane has been waiting even longer for an answer here. -Terrence

Ugh- panel two came out so wrong... one of the issues with doing so many comics at once. Ah well. Hopefully within the next ten years of comics I'll improve a bit. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I wish there was a bit more of a rising and falling motion in this storyline. It's not about the plot changes. Sometimes it's about the emotional changes between the character

Robert just keeps letting Jane down here. Perhaps there should have been moments where things almost work out, where you think that maybe he's going to get it together and be a helpful partner - Terrence
