I think the ultimate answer is "because I wanted a little buildup before jumping back into the Minerva Theatre Reunion arc". I wanted Kimberly's worrying to mean something to the audience, which is why I paired her with Patrick instead of Richard. He asks harder questions and jumps to different conclusions - Terrence
