Original Commentary
This was one of the first ideas we had when I started to come up with this arc... Terrence and I were talking over the basic idea, and he came up with Kimberly's punch line in panel three. I had wanted to add a little aside where Sofia comments that, "Just because he didn't hit on you doesn't make him gay, Kimberly.". But I don't think Terrence liked the line... I can't recall, I can't remember his response to it. He didn't write it in this comic's notes, at the least. We're also playing with just who this woman is, but for now we're just tinkering. -Isabel Modern Commentary
The best thing I could say is that we were going somewhere with this, had Sydney (and his new girlfriend) ever shown up again.
Whatever we were trying to say about Sydney, I don't think we said it. This doesn't go anywhere and I think it's a dead end we would've been better off not exploring

Original Commentary
I had to do a bit or research to track down what their TV looked like- I think the last time we saw it was some time in year one. I should have book marked the link. >< It was in a Sunday one-shot, I believe.... back in the days when the Sundays would have those really cool color logos- did anyone besides me like those?
Of course, we already know why Kimberly doesn't want to think of inviting her folks... but Sofia gets to unabridged version... lucky girl. -Isabel Modern Commentary
I'm glad Isabel looked up what their TV looks like. But considering Brisbane fixes discarded television sets, we wouldn't really need to explain if it looks different from how it looked a few months back.

Original Commentary
I spent way too long writing this one... the joke was obvious, but for some reason I was having trouble getting there... there were many slight forks in the road that would make the gag go one way or another... I hope I picked the best one. Another example of Jane the nurturer... it's nice to see that side of her again- we don't get to see it as often as I'd like. -Isabel Modern Commentary
Robert and Jake are childhood friends. I'm sure Robert's folks know Jake.
Do they like him? I mean, Jake is kinda hard to get along with. But they haven't seen him in a while. Perhaps they hope he's matured with age.

 Thursday, November 27th 2008 - [1329]Anti-Thanksgiving (9 of 10)
Original Commentary
Poor You Say it First... it was the only one of our comics that actually had a Holiday-themed arc, and it didn't get updated on the day of said event. Ah well, Thanksgiving is as much about the left overs as it is about giving thanks. And it looks like Sofia is going to have many a day of Thanksgiving leftovers... at least, whatever she didn't get a chance to force feed Kimberly... -Isabel Modern Commentary
This is at Sofia's place. That's one of the nice things about having set colors for everyone's homes is you can tell where we're at.
Anyhow, they didn't leave without pie. And it was really good pie, too.

Original Commentary
This idea was originally planned for a .net bonus comic... I was going to do a couple "What are you grateful for" comics, and Black Friday was what Emily was to be thankful for... but I think it worked better as a regular comic. It's been about five or more years since I've braved Black Friday... I could never find any of these wonderful deals that are supposedly out there. Oh well... at least Emily is happy. -Isabel Modern Commentary
Yeah, back in the day folks would camp out for Black Friday deals. You'd get your crazy sales buy a $500 TV for $200 or something. Except they'd only have four of those TVs in stock (assuming the assistant manager didn't hide them in the back so his brother-in-law could buy them) and if you weren't at the front of the line, you could either buy something else or go home empty-handed and admit defeat.
Nowadays, you can just get it online, and the $500 TV is marked up to $800 then back down to $450. It's not the same
