Original Commentary
Brisbane has a point here - so far they're about four days in and have produced very little in the way of results. They've worked hard and they're taking a break until they find a good reason to get back to work - Terrence Modern Commentary
Brisbane is leaning against the wall.
Also, note that Brisbane isn't finding a new employee for the marketing department. Patrick was right.

We've seen this guy before here. Why does Brisbane do things like this? Because he still thinks of himself as a former vaudeville comedian. Why does Kimberly no-sell it when Brisbane does this? Because she remembers how bad he was as a vaudeville comedian.-Terrence Modern Commentary
If you have to tell people that it's good comedic timing, it isn't.

Yes, that's this Ross order. No, Kimberly didn't tell anybody about it. It'd be too easy if Kimberly's first major problem went smoothly - Terrence Modern Commentary
Yeah, "They solve a problem" and "They have to deal with the consequences of how they solved the problem" were both on the checklist

And the shipping department guy gets a name!
Does he report to Dan? There is a complicated relationship between the Shipping Department and the Product Delivery Department. I had considered having Dan try to muscle in on things, and increase Product Delivery's size and scope within the company. That didn't really happen. There was enough happening without that, though.

Delegation at its finest. If there was a fourth panel, it would've been
Brisbane: So, are you going to give him a raise?
Kimberly: I have no idea how to do that - Terrence Modern Commentary
To some extent, Al isn't that different from Jake. Big guy. Very assured in his abilities, but has an attitude that almost counteracts that.
Al has the sense and luck to pull that attitude on Kimberly when she is in desperate need of help, rather than to try this on Ms. Taylor on a random Friday.

Original Commentary
If it was up to me, that manager wouldn't have any sort of job left for him when he arrived on Monday. But, that is why Kimberly is in charge. I had originally had Kimberly smiling a little in yesterday's last panel, but in this comic we see just how unsure of everything she is right now, so I made her have a weak smile type thing. I think it works. -Isabel Modern Commentary
So it's Friday, currently. At least I'm pretty sure it's Friday.
The nice thing is that payroll issues are a problem for next week or the week after. But best not to kick that down the road; who knows what problem they'll have next week.

Original Commentary
How anyone can not have food in their fridge like this is a mystery to me... even when our fridge is empty, we usually have enough to make something semi-decent. Hunger definitely makes Kimberly's instincts soften... and seems to sharpen Brisbane's. Funny thing, that hunger. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
There is no emotion to that "How very balanced" in panel 2. Brisbane said something at least a little novel and philosophical, but Kimberly hasn't had breakfast yet. Maybe after a meal, after a normal week she'd be up for their usual banter. But now, she just no-sells it.
