Sometimes I really like Richard and Sinclair... I try not to make them finish each other's sentences but rather have them both kind of think along the same line... I still can't tell them apart- but I get the feeling one of them is more slobbish than the other... if they are fraternal or identical twins has never been established (and probably won't ever be)- Isabel
Modern Commentary
Yeah, neither Richard nor Sinclair were ever about to get along with Mr. Proud-and-Prickly here.

Terrence thought Pat was being a bit harsh on Kimberly in these last two comics... but of course, he could not see the visuals of what happened between them in the Sunday- why Kimberly doesn't like him at all and why he's so pissed off at her.
We don't get to see Kimberly's anti- social self too much... she's a great business person- but she's not very willing to let people become her friends and get close to her- especially if she sees them as a threat in any way. Which definitely says something about her relationship with Brisbane, doesn't it? Oh well, no relationship is perfect... they are happy now and trust each other for the most part, which is what matters. -Isabel Modern Commentary
So here, seventeen years later, we probably would have had Patrick phrase that differently in the first panel.
But his assumption is that if Kimberly isn't sexually interested in him personally, it's because she's not interested in any men. He's arrogant that way.
Kimberly doesn't wear a ring at work. Mainly because she doesn't want to have that conversation with her mother. Brisbane is too overjoyed to not have mentioned it to his friends though...

Alternate title: "Patrick finally eats lunch". When we were discussing what to do with Patrick, this was high on the list. In fact, I seriously considered having the arc end with him quitting halfway through his first day. He seemed like the type who'd just throw up his hands and say "You people are all crazy here". But this is one of the reasons that he kept working there - because somebody needed to let Ms. Taylor know that her daughter was engaged - Terrence
Modern Commentary
So Brisbane told Richard and Sinclair who told Patrick who told Ms. Taylor...
Note that Ms. Taylor calls him Mr. Windsor, as he prefers. They work well since they're both formal people

Funny how the comics seem to sync up sometimes, isn't it? Anyhow, I asked Isabel if Kimberly would call Miz Taylor "Mom" in the first panel. No, she said, because she thinks they're here to talk business. She's in an employee-employer mode of thinking right now. Her mother doesn't seem to have that kind of mental compartmentalization going on - Terrence Modern Commentary
I'm glad we covered what happened in the past, but also glad that we've pivoted to a more immediate concern

So, are Brisbane's parents even going to be told about the wedding? That's a very good question. But Ms. Taylor is, at very least, not at the top of the "do not tell these people" list - Terrence
Modern Commentary
Yeah, I think that between Emily, Brisbane's family, and Ms. Taylor, there are more people on the "do not tell" list than the "tell" list

Original Commentary
If you do the math, the wedding is in 7 months; if they'd been planning it for a few months, they'd have to have the wedding a lot sooner if they needed to cover for Kimberly being pregnant. But Ms. Taylor's not so quick at math if dollar signs aren't involved, and it's a mother's first guess when there's a quickly planned wedding - Terrence Modern Commentary
Is Kimberly getting paid for this? Yes, technically. But she still has the same amount of work to do and a new employee to train and manage...
