Original Commentary
Is the comic becoming "oversexed" over the past month? Eh, not really. If anything this is more like three or so years (not counting the days of Unlike Minerva because, when I write the series, I don't COUNT those years because as far as I'm concerned the sexual frustration didn't start until they moved in, but I'm getting side tracked) of action condensed into about a month. If you don't like it, nothing I can say here will change that.
That being said, the original intent of having this arc directly following Brisbane and Kimberly's arc was to show the sharp contrast between the Taylors' relationship to Brisbane and Kimberly's relationship. Brisbane and Kimberly had a meaningful... weekend of starting a new phase of their lives. The Taylors had a one night tryst. Not very romantic, I must admit, but it's something about those two the reader has to know and try to understand. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
She wants him to stay another night? Or she wants to be the one to decide if they stay together for another night - Terrence Tuesday, October 24th 2006 - [705]Business as Usual (20 of 24)
Original Commentary
So is this how they really see each other? Did Ms. Taylor really expect everything to work out? Did Mr. Taylor really expect that he'd be able to leave so easily? It's been a few years since the bad times ended and a few hours since the good times began - Terrence
Modern Commentary
If they start discussing their relationship, it will end up in a fight. It's complicated and there's a lot of history and feelings still there
- Terrence Wednesday, October 25th 2006 - [706]Business as Usual (21 of 24)
Original Commentary
They make a much better couple when they don't actually have to spend time together, which is why their marriage fell apart when they wound up working together directly. Anyhow, I believe this is the first time she called him Clarence in a long, long time, and names do matter - Terrence
Modern Commentary
She calls him by his first name instead of his last name, here. A pet name or term of endearment would be much too far for her. But this is something.
When he says he'll pay the hotel bill, it's not about the money. She could afford it better than he can. But as you'll later see, she's been stuck cleaning up his messes and paying for his things more than once and would deeply resent it if he tried that again- Terrence Thursday, October 26th 2006 - [707]Business as Usual (22 of 24)
Original Commentary
Complex relationships certainly do run in the family.
So, some of you are wondering about Ms. Taylor's mystery man, from a year or two back. Don't worry about it. At the risk of giving away a secret...I was originally going to have it be Mr. Taylor. But that subplot got put down for too long, and the explanation was too complex to be worthwhile. So, who was it? Don't worry about it, at least not yet - Terrence Modern Commentary
Yeah, we never did follow up about that mystery man. But Ms Taylor might have a few other men that she's dating casually. We never really chose to focus there, but we implied it once or twice.
But she didn't start working out for them, did she?
- Terrence Friday, October 27th 2006 - [708]Business as Usual (23 of 24)
Original Commentary
This has been the first time in a long time that we've seen Kimberly sitting at her work desk wearing her headset. Kimberly talks with buyers over the phone and tries to convince them to buy more artificial clean smell from the company. I'm sure she's calling Brisbane on a break (while her co-workers are away- they'd probably throw a fit if they saw her doing this). How romantic. ^_^ -Isabel
Modern Commentary
Regarding the previous commentary, would Richard and Sinclair complain if they caught Kimberly talking to Brisbane? Or would they want to talk to him too?
- Terrence Sunday, October 29th 2006 - [709]Business as Usual (24 of 24)
Original Commentary
Yes, we skipped forward a month. If this were a more business-oriented comic, the last panel would be of Dan rubbing his hands together evilly and saying that, now that Ms. Taylor has left, they need to get on to real business. But it isn't, and he doesn't have much in the way of evil plans right now - Terrence Modern Commentary
Minor shareholder reappears!
And all the minor shareholder fans rejoice
