Original Commentary
When I was drawing it, I was going to have Sofia actually fixing the sandwich in panel one, but my mind came to a complete blank when it came to "making sandwich". It's scary when you can't picture someone making a sandwich. Makes me feel like I'm losing my mind. But I think it's just that I'm not a fan of sandwiches - Isabel
Originally I was going to write comics next, but I wanted to get it entirely finished before it started. So Isabel wrote this today - Terrence
Modern Commentary
You might say "Isn't Sofia a cook? Shouldn't the dishwasher handle that?" They don't have a specific person hired as a dishwasher. Whoever the boss feels like putting on dish duty is the dishwasher and Sofia drew the short straw today.
Anyhow, it's a cold open. Things could go anywhere from here, but how much do you want to bet that Sofia isn't going to have an only-care-about-myself weekend like she hopes

Original Commentary
Sofia looks so vulnerable in this comic. Which, in a way, is out of character for her because Sofia really isn't a vulnerable person. Or at least she's not willing to admit it to herself. She's still fairly young and has to realize her flaws. Give her a couple years. She'll know what's wrong with her then - Isabel Modern Commentary
There are a couple Sofia-related storylines that begin like this, where she's feeling forlorn and needs a change. That's where she is right now.

Original Commentary
Isabel wanted to put a weak "burr" sound in the last panel. I agreed, but it was late and we just left it as it was. I think the point comes across equally well without it. He looks like he's in a bad enough shape as is - Terrence Modern Commentary
Tuna loaf appears to - horrifyingly - be a real thing. It's a lot like meat loaf but with tuna.
I think we had envisioned it as a loaf cake, but either way, Brent isn't feeling up for it.

Original Commentary
I'm sure we've seen Brisbane without his glasses before. I just can't recall when and I know it's not too often - Isabel Modern Commentary
I wish brants came with a repair manual. Or a reset button.
Brisbane must be really tired. I figure a fully-awake Brisbane would help a stranger with their problems.

Original Commentary
We put the "burr" in that one. Isabel put it in very delibarately since we missed it last time. This is based in part off of a real experience. You can tell when our cat, Momo, is sick - she doesn't fight when you hold her - Terrence
Modern Commentary
So in addition to a repair manual and reset button, brants should come with diagnostic error messages.
Brisbane doesn't know what's wrong. Sofia doesn't know how to explain it. And even if he did know, it's not like he can just look it up online back in 2006 - Terrence
 Sunday, April 16th 2006 - [565]Doctor, Doctor (6 of 12)
Original Commentary
At the last minute, I was going to add "Open 24 hours" to the ad, but decided not to. And that chick blanket Brent has is a Deleter screentone pattern. And yes, I used letters in the alphabet just in case someone tried to call it. I don't figure anyone would, but I'd rather play it safe. I know I wouldn't want to get a call asking if I were an all-night animal shelter. Unrelatedly, I'm trying to make Sofia's hair a bit more spiky so she looks more like a hedgehog - Isabel Modern Commentary
And we get to use one of our sound effect fonts for the burr. I'm pretty sure that's Smash from Comicraft.
- Terrence
