Original Commentary

This is one of the things Isabel have talked about several times. Brisbane has his own auxiliary cast. Kimberly doesn't. Kimberly is in need of a bit more development as a person, to give her hobbies and friends and such. What she does have, though, is a family, which we will see more of. And we just may see more of Brisbane's family - Terrence

Modern Commentary
We never did end up seeing Brisbane's family beyond his two siblings. And Kimberly never did make any friends. But she got along better with Brisbane's friends at least - Terrence

Original Commentary

I feel that this is a very good point - I liked a great many of my co-workers, but make it a point never to attend after-hours get-togethers, especially work-sponsored ones. I like these people, but I feel that eight hours a day with them is enough. That and work-sponsored outings are filled with people trying to both have fun and look good in front of the boss. Kimberly feels the same way, only moreso - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I've got a better set of coworkers now and would hang out with them.

We never did end up showing the other folks who lived in the apartment building - the normal ones. I mean, there have to be other normal people living there. - Terrence

Original Commentary

And we switch back so that Lola and Kimberly can have a nice, meaningful conversation. We'll give you the highlights of it later, of course. My goals were to show Brisbane interacting with his friends and give a little information about what's happening in their lives. Mind you, both panels are references to previous story arcs, about Emily and Jane. Why a two-panel comic? Because we woke up 19 hours ago to get our kitten his shots and spent the day running a whole bunch of other cat-related errands (Yes, Tipporomatic 3 counts as cat-related)- Terrence

Modern Commentary
It's good to reiterate things. Robert and David's relationships are important to them.

Also, we still have that kitten - Buttons. She (it turns out we were wrong about the gender; the vet who we went to didn't notice or didn't correct us) is seventeen years old and enjoys being left alone in warm spots.

But as you can sometimes see, we were doing a lot of comics (You Say it First, Namir Deiter, Spare Parts, monthly comic books, and the NamirDeiter.net bonus comics) and when real life interfered with our workflow, we got one or two panel comics - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I wish we had shown a little more about how Brisbane and friends getting together to hang out and sometimes fixing broken electronics turned into...some kind of very loose "secret society". That would've made a great bonus comic.

They were kinda meant to be a half-hearted secret society. I wish we had given them silly hats or something. I mean, they're not very good at this secret society thing but you need to have silly hats.

Also, I kinda wish we had shown a little less about Brisbane and his friends getting together to hang out and sometimes fix broken electronics. Looking back on it, the real meat of the story is in how Kimberly is feeling and we should've kept focus on that. Lounge Guy shenanigans could've had their own separate chapter. - Terrence

Coffee Maker

Original Commentary

We wrote this comic late Thursday night. Too late Thursday night, actually. And yes, the Lounge Guys don't know Robert or David's names. It's all a matter of perspective - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Seriously, there should have been a comic where Robert or David asks a Lounge Guy what their name is and is told "You will address me as Mister President while the society meetings are in session. Outside of these meetings, we do not know each other" or something like that.

You can tell the Lounge Guys are getting desparate. They threw the coffee maker with the carafe still in it. Brisbane can fix a lot of things - especially considering what he's working with - but broken glass is still broken glass - Terrence

Original Commentary

We'll see more of the Mystic Order of the Hippedown Repair Society. But not right now. There's probably another half-week worth of the guys talking about their women, but this isn't the half-week for it. And there was going to be something in there about how Kimberly got that line ("take a broader look around...") from Lola, who in turn got it from some wrestler at a Pay-Per-View event. But that just seemed to be taking things a little too far. Brisbane's response is justified, I mean, it does sound kind of like "I think we should see other people". Which should all be viewed in light of the ND that you see above - Terrence

Modern Commentary
The Original Commentary was written for NamirDeiter.net, which would show all of our comics on one page, with commentary. The "comic above" that's referenced there is Joy breaking up with Dr. Ferdinand Fitzgerald because his mom made him.

We don't usually coordinate the goings-on in our different comics but sometimes it rhymes.

Also, that original commentary makes it clear that I hadn't watched wrestling in a decade or two. That speech about taking a broader look around and finding someone with similar interest? That would've been right after the pay-per-view. Then they team up with a gimmicky name and win the tag titles at the next pay-per-view. - Terrence
