 Monday, February 14th 2005 - [220]Valentine's Day plans (1 of 6)
Original Commentary
Our original plans for Valentine's Day were much more in line with Kimberly's idea than Brisbane's. But the last arc ran a bit over. But who knows what that rabbit might bring him for Easter - Terrence
Modern Commentary
So, how serious was Kimberly? If she was bluffing, she knew that Brisbane wouldn't call her on it. But I think her goals were more about seeing the expression on his face when she dropped the robe and, maybe, making him nervous during the date.
- Terrence
Well, she cut off the tag off that nightgown there, so she must have been a little serious. Even if she wasn't admitting it to herself just right now. - Isabel

Original Commentary
Originally the Valentine's comic was to stand on it's own- however Terrence started brainstorming and came up with the idea for what they were going to do for the date, so the story arc I was to write will be pushed back to next week. -Isabel Modern Commentary
Yeah. Plan was to talk to the restaurant, eat, and take a carriage to the next location. Brisbane's a planner.
Not much to say about this one. It's kinda sweet. Dig the coloring showing that it's kinda dark out.
- Isabel

Original Commentary
A reference to Monday's comic. Earlier drafts had him asking about the red nightie - Terrence
Modern Commentary
Brisbane is, you'll note, hung up on the idea perfect romantic date on a special occasion. He's got this idea that everything needs to go right for their relationship to move forward. That's going to cause problems for them in the near future.
They could've just stayed home and spent time together on any day of the week, instead of just staying home and spending time separately. - Terrence

Original Commentary
Isabel drew this one, then I wrote the dialogue. Kimberly has a long history of messing with Brisbane's head - Terrence
Modern Commentary
Then again, the advantage of taking Kimberly out like this is that it gets her away from the auctions and the computer. If it's just the two of you alone in a park, you've got each other's undivided attention. A rare commodity for Brisbane lately.
Or at least it was before the internet got cut off the other day- Terrence

Original Commentary
Brisbane never did know when to just to shut up and kiss the girl - Terrence
Modern Commentary
It's good to talk these things out. Uncomfortable, sometimes, but good. But they're both ready to change the subject really quickly here.
In that first panel, Brisbane is bringing up the way he feels but also not-so-subtly suggesting that Kimberly owes him an apology. He's not wrong to feel that way but I don't think this is the time or place to bring it up. - Terrence

Original Commentary
Kimberly's question in the third panel is something Isabel and I have been discussing lately - Terrence Modern Commentary
Back in the distant day of 2005, it was pretty normal for folks to not have cellphones. Kinda. Apparently about 70% of households had cellphones back then. Brisbane and Kimberly have always been a little behind the times.
But a lot of fictional characters were slow to adopt cellphones. You tell writers, "Here's a new device. Half the complications that you throw at your characters could be solved instantly. Almost everybody has one", and there will be a while when a LOT of stories focus on people who don't have that new device that makes your plans obsolete.
But seriously, who do these two have to call? - Terrence
