You Say it First is a year old today. - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Is this a little self-indulgent? Yes. I've seen a lot of comics where the general theme is "Hey, everybody - we've been doing this for a whole year" or "Can you believe it's been 100 comics already?".

You've got to amuse yourself, first. You are your comic's most important audience and there's nothing wrong with pointing out that you've done a good chunk of work to get here.
But I don't think I've really cared much for this sort of thing when other people have done it. Upon reflection, I'm sure other people think the same thing when I do it.

Back in the day, there were places like ComixTalk that might report on things like this and we'd get a little news piece in front of other folks, which is always nice. - Terrence

Original Commentary

You Say it First:F.Y.I.- Terrence has been writing this week's comics... Kimberly is one picky gal, but it looks like she finally found her match (at least this time...). I'm sure she'll look up obscure cake toppings tommrow just to try and stump Brisbane the next time he needs to buy a cake for her ('cause that's just the kind of gal ol' Kimberly is).-Isabel

Modern Commentary
So, "put all the flavors you like in it" is not how you bake. It's a bad idea. I was all set to just clown on Brisbane for doing this, but... it doesn't sound like a bad combination. A bit busy but no serious conflicts. Would've been better with two or three things.
But Kimberly fed him the straight line he expected, so it all worked out. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Coincidentally, today is our 26-month anniversary - Terrence.

Modern Commentary
We were, I'm sure, kicking around ideas about where the other folks went to and how to bring them back. Then, about a week and a half later we brought back two of them!- Terrence

Original Commentary

Yes, Lemon Technology, Brisbane's workplace, run by Kimberly's mother, imports fragrances for industrial cleansers. Amazing how the backstory fits together sometimes. Anyhow, that's why the horse-drawn carriages at Fitzgerald Carriages don't smell like horse - Terrence.

Modern Commentary
One of the ongoing complications of furry comics is dealing with non-anthropomorphic animals; quickly and easily indicating that these are not horse-type people, but regular horses.
We hope everybody got it via context, but people might wonder about it a little.

Whatever Brisbane had planned for the second half of the date, I hope he didn't pay in advance. Probably a movie or something. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Of course, this means that next month, we need to write something about Kimberly throwing an occasion for Brisbane - Terrence.

Modern Commentary
...he brought home the cake? There's a place that sells Everything Cakes?

I mean, that kinda makes sense. It's a nice gimmick. You'd just figure they'd sell it by the slice or as personal cakes or such. A full-size cake of that is just way too much, but you might buy a single serving of it just for the experience.

I had forgotten that bit and figured Brisbane made it himself and just had poor impulse control. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Written by Isabel. I wonder how obvious the difference in our writing styles is to our readers. I love the way Kimberly's hair blows in the wind. This is a great comic and I can't think of anything else to say about it; it stands on its own - Terrence
