That Box

Modern Commentary
Note that Brisbane only had that one half-full box of stuff. He probably didn't unpack it.

Brisbane wore an ascot in Unlike Minerva for a few reasons. I wanted him to have a distinct visual cue since the comic had several dozen different artists. Syd Barrett, the original frontman of Pink Floyd, looked very impressive in one (but Brisbane never quite had the same rakish air). And nobody else in comics was wearing one, so it helped him stand out.

But this isn't Unlike Minerva. This is a new comic where things are different. He takes it off because of the move and, sixteen comics later, he puts on a necktie because he has a real job and needs to function in the real world. - Terrence

Modern Commentary
They both have a point here. Maybe I'm soft-hearted, but I prefer it when both characters in an argument are a little right or at least coming from a reasonable place.
I don't blame Brisbane for wanting to make the new place their place instead of just Kimberly's place with a guest bedroom. And I don't blame Kimberly for not wanting to get a bunch of new stuff for the sake of new stuff.
I assume that Kimberly's kitchen table is in the kitchen (offscreen) and the chair (and couch) are behind them. - Terrence

Kimberly has not had stability. Thus far, she's been at this apartment for a few years and has been able to make rent, but it's never been a sure thing and has probably been very close when sales were down.
One set of changes at a time. Wait for the move to be finished, the new job to be started, and the second paycheck to start coming in before you think of spending the first one. - Terrence
