If you enjoy the Lounge Guys being clever and pulling one over on Brisbane, hope you had a good time here. They're not going to do that too often.
Looking back on it, Brisbane and Kimberly's relationship was the meat of the series. Maybe having Brisbane watch a staticky TV with a bunch of nameless randos for a month wasn't the best thing to do for a second chapter. Like, seriously.
But I felt strongly about it at the time and wanted there to be more characters. We had just lost most of our extended cast when the theatre closed down I've always liked having large casts.
And if I introduce characters like the Lounge Guys, I need the repetition to show that these are characters that Do One Thing. I didn't want people to think there was a trick to them that you weren't getting. They hang out in the lounge, watch TV static, and yell at it as if they are watching different programs. They get a bit of character development eventually, but there are no hidden depths here now.- Terrence Thursday, May 13th 2004 - [36]Job hunters (1 of 12)

Isabel wrote the initial storyline, showed it to me, and I decided I wanted to write a chapter then and there. With brand new characters! My influences definitely included Living Game and Maison Ikkoku there.
Also, didn't Brisbane mention a couch back in the first chapter? We haven't seen a couch. Maybe a slightly large armchair. Definitely too small to lay down on, even if you curl up tight like a hedgehog.
Did I mention that Brisbane is a hedgehog? He is. It's just the spikes and roundness and pointy nose don't really work for him, so we understand if it's not everyone's first guess. - Terrence Saturday, May 15th 2004 - [37]Job hunters (2 of 12)

They're not even dating, technically. Just kinda...entangled. But not in a in-the-same-bed kinda way.
Salesdude is wrong on pretty much every assumption. There are couples out there who sleep in separate beds for a variety of reasons, like if one partner snores or thrashes or such.
I don't know how he stays in business with that attitude. - Terrence
