Modern Commentary
Hey, remember payphones? Back before cellphones took off, they were totally a thing! And Brisbane definitely didn't have a cellphone back then; he lived in a vaudeville theatre with all his friends. Who would he even call? It's funny how quickly not having a mobile phone went from normal to abnormal.
Also, I'm not sure the theatre has employment records so much as playbills. And Brisbane wasn't on the playbills. Why? Because Kimberly produced them and he pissed her off.
And now he can't get a job because of her, which is part of his issues. - Terrence

Nina
Not the Library

Original Commentary
And why not the library? Nina, a mysterious girl who never showed up when anyone else was around. She lived there, or at least kept appearing to Brisbane when he was there. But the end of Unlike Minerva was about the choice of reality versus fantasy. And he chose reality and now has to deal with the consequences.

Modern Commentary
We had always had ideas for how Nina might show up in You Say it First, but it never got beyond the characters pointedly not going to the library.
Seriously, we pitched a lot of ideas at each other. Mainly Isabel. We'll get into them later.- Terrence
