Patrick
Sofia
Blush

Original Commentary
No, I don't think he was expecting that to work. I really love how the second panel came out - Terrence

For panel three, there were two pairs of mouths drawn for Patrick. One was a smiling, open mouth, the other a smirking one. The smirk fit him way too well...

At least the two of them look like they enjoyed their little conversation... perhaps a bit too much? -Isabel

Modern Commentary
They remind me a little of Tipper and Charles.

Charles wishes he could pull something like this off... - Terrence

Patrick
Sofia
Cry
worry

Original Commentary
Yes, Patrick's ears are flopped behind him. As a tall, big-eared guy, it must be really difficult to find a car that they can stand up straight in. That's probably why Kimberly still takes the bus. I can't imagine what a convertible would to do his ears after a long ride - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Cars are one of Isabel's least favorite things to draw, so I try not to have them show up when we can help it - Terrence

Wednesday, August 6th 2008 - [1224]The Dance (20 of 24)
Patrick
Sofia
Date
Coffee

Original Commentary
Sofia seems to really brighten up in these lesser surroundings... or perhaps her so painfully non-caffeinated drink perked her up. I know hot water can wake me up.

We were trying to think of something really fancy and French for Sofia to make, but we were at a blank. The script had *fancy food* in place of crepes until tonight. I was going to put down eggs benedict, but then Terrence suggested something actually good. Patrick's line in panel three is a pickup line... a very bad, not really appropriate considering everything pickup line... which I added in last minute. I wasn't going to originally simply because I didn't think there would be enough space in the panel, but there was so I added it in. Not that Sofia seems to notice. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Latte-o-chino. Back in the mid-2000s, making fun of Starbucks drink names was comdy gold. Now that's just what the drinks are called. - Terrence

Thursday, August 7th 2008 - [1225]The Dance (21 of 24)
Patrick
Sofia
Date
Talk

Original Commentary
So, is Sydney a creep? Yeah, sometimes. Sofia used to live with him. If a female friend came to visit her, can you picture him not hitting on the friend? Exactly. He's probably about fifteen years older than her. So, yeah. Creep. Especially when Sofia's friends are around - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Sofia is mostly reiterating what we've already seen. But it's good to remind people of what's happened. Most folks read a lot of comics and may need to be reminded of plot points.

I say this because I remember reading other comics and wishing they did this, so this is probably true for our comic as well. - Terrence

Friday, August 8th 2008 - [1226]The Dance (22 of 24)
Patrick
Sofia

Original Commentary
I think everybody's background should be recapped about once a year. Does Patrick know that Brisbane went to college? Doesn't matter. He's just good at offhandedly, inadvertantly insulting Brisbane - Terrence

Modern Commentary
And Sandra is mentioned! Isabel was planning on introducing her for a little while. - Terrence

Saturday, August 9th 2008 - [1227]The Dance (23 of 24)
Patrick
Sofia
Kiss

Original Commentary
Does that whole thing with Caleb really count as a first date? I mean, he had been trying to woo her for a couple years. They had been living in the same building and seeing each other every day. It's not as if they had just been introduced that morning. But they never actually had a date. Or really a conversation. We may put a poll up.
Or you could just say that she learned her lesson.
Anyhow, Patrick went through a lot of trouble for a kiss on the cheek, but he seems pretty happy with it - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Still, a kiss on the cheek isn't bad. Especially considering how badly things were going when they left the ball - Terrence

Original Commentary
This arc... really lasted a lot longer than I ever intended... my original plan involved a two week arc, three max. But then the monthly goal last month was not made, leaving me to try and make a once seven day a week arc work. Then, before the arc had a chance to end, the monthly goal for the next month was made (well, no, technically it wasn't made, but we're going with the bonus schedule because it was so close). originally, this arc was going to end last week with Sofia storming off in a huff with Patrick chasing after her. But in the end, the arc extended to include the cafe scenes- which were actually in the original idea for this arc (didn't make it to the first scripted draft due to the three day a week schedule). So it may have taken a lot longer to do than intended, but this arc pretty much did all I had wanted it to do.

Ok, now onto "Therapists in a plant"... whenever we go to the book store, there is always the display of mini-books/ small boxes of kits or other weird things like the Mini Zen garden (which I have to admit is pretty cool- once had one but lost the sand in the move- this was the three year ago move cross country, not this recent move) or hot stone massage kits or the therapist in a box (which consists of a some type of sand timer and some kind of therapist item- honestly I haven't looked it over too thoroughly). Miz Taylor is either too proud or cheap to buy one of those. Besides, she has a plant, a kitchen timer and glasses- what more do you really need (when drunk)? -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I wish we had done more with the therapist-in-a-plant concept. Dr. Ficus should have shown up more - Isabel
