They keep going from LCD to CRT monitors and back again. Officially, they keep breaking them and Robert gets them slightly used monitors for cheap - Isabel

Modern Commentary
In Kimberly's defense, Brisbane should have led with "We can get married in the game and we don't need to plan or do anything" - Terrence

Originally, I had drawn the last panel. Then I started the middle panel and didn't feel it worked very well with the movements that Terrence wrote. I figured I'd scrap them and put them up on namirdeiter.net as sketchbook entries. Then I drew panel 1 and it all worked. So I left it as it was- Isabel

Modern Commentary
One of our little quirks of FBAO is that new characters look like children, and they age as you level them up.

I'd imagine that this became less and less relevant as they raised the level cap. In MapleStory (which FBAO is sometimes based on), it used to be that level 30 was an achievement that took months. Now, you can get to level 200 in an afternoon when there's an event on.

Fortunately FBAO doesn't keep aging your character, or all the max-level characters would be elderly. - Terrence

Kimberly's character is a warrior, quite possibly a monk. Why? Because fighters aren't very complicated, and monks are even simpler. No weapons to choose - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Kimberly's character is a monk. Brisbane was planning on steering her towards a simple class, since Kimberly hasn't really played video games much.

Then Kimberly just asked what class was the easiest.

Anyhow, the punchline was originally "I don't see why it can't be both". I don't change the text of the comic much when I reletter, but it was a real hassle to try to get that to fit, and I think the less she says, the better it works.

Less line equals more punch, y'know? - Terrence

Why are the FBAO characters talking using regular word bubbles? Not just because we're lazy, but to indicate that Brisbane and Kimberly are talking in real life. No chat or microphones this time - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Why didn't they go to social media or the FBAO subreddit or anything like that?

Firstly, none of that existed. Second, their computers aren't powerful enough to run Final Battle Adventure Online and load the FBAO messageboards at the same time. - Terrence

Original Commentary

We got married in Maple Story, when the wedding system first came out. It came with 30 invitations. We didn't know anybody who played regularly, so I gave them to whoever was standing around. Mainly because I was greedy and wanted wedding presents. We invited them and nothing happened. I figured that it was because we hadn't actually started the wedding, so we went in and got married. Alone. Then two hours later, the invitations went through. If I actually cared about any of those people, I might've been upset by that turn of events - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I've quit playing games over less.

Also, Brisbane could just put in a support ticket and maybe eventually the game masters will let them out.

Hopefully - Terrence

Makes you wonder how they were the only two stuck in there... perhaps they were the only ones naive enough to actually go into the chapel without reading the on-line FAQ, but there has to be a small handful of people there as headstrong as Brisbane and Kimberly. Perhaps it has more to do with the fact that I didn't want to draw all those other people trapped in the chapel forever... or perhaps they logged off, never to log back on again. Scary. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Unlike Minerva Kimberly would've demanded that Brisbane pay the $40 for the game and pay her $60.

YSiF Kimberly has a joint checking account with him and isn't that serious about it. Probably make him wash the dishes or something. - Terrence

Original Commentary

I think Maple Story's wedding was a little nicer than this... it was so long ago, I don't even remember anymore. Brisbane's character is a thief/dancer, I believe- with Kimberly either being a fighter or monk (or perhaps both... I can't recall), but the boots are for... any other game player type. You'd think they would give them just basic items, that could be used for any types - Isabel

Modern Commentary
That first panel? That is the entirety of the wedding. - Terrence
