Original Commentary

This next week of comics was originally meant to have taken place during last week's story arc "Congratulations". Basically since the schedule was going to change mid-arc, some writing needed to be done. Much like last Friday's Spare Parts arc, I needed to write more comics... unfortunately I miss-calculated when the start of the "6 day a week" schedule would be starting and ended up writing 3 more comics than I should have. Once I realized my mistake, Terrence wrote me a YSIF script (the comic that ran Friday, I believe), the last Friday comic was turned into a Sunday and those three comics were spun off into their own arc- very convenient because they dealt with a similar, yet completely different plot. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I've said it before, but we really should have had a week or two between when the donation goal needed to be met and when the update schedule changed.

This made it impossible to have a proper buffer and caused a number of last-minute rewrites.

Also, I'm sure I'm not entirely consistent about characters greeting each other; that's the kind of social nicety that takes up valuable panels. However, when someone no-sells or interrupts or stops a greeting, that means something - Terrence

Original Commentary

Yes... Emily is more than a bit paranoid now. Has she always been that way? Perhaps... but not about her friendship to Kimberly... back in the day she was just in happy ignorance. Emily is overbearing and is convinced that if she likes some one- then they must like her to. Which is why she can't understand what's been going on her life with Kimberly and Sofia. Maybe she's just attracts the wrong sort of friend. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
I don't have much to add; they don't like each other. We know they don't like each other.

Normally, Emily would be hanging out with her Other Friends (who we never meet) but since Sofia accidentally told Emily that Kimberly is getting married she's back. - Terrence

Original Commentary

I'm sure Sofia has softened up since the days when Brisbane and her were kids... it would have cost him one room cleaning every other day and a bag of candy (on top of the money) back in the day. I'm sure Sofia appreciates the extra funds, considering her crappy job.

So... who else is on Kimberly's list? Not too many other people... her mother (although she does plan on eventually inviting her mother... eventually), the Lounge Guys (although I'm sure Brisbane told them before they made it on her list and is just keeping that little fact from Kimberly) and of course, Emily. Kimberly does however maintain the right to add more people to that list as she sees fit. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Bubble placement has always been a challenge for us. Sometimes we'd have to break up dialogue between multiple bubbles, like you see in the second panel.

Isabel preferred straight lines linking the speech bubbles. I'd usually have them unlinked, with separate tails. I tried to have them untailed, like we'd see in manga but that didn't work with our style; I felt like it was never clear who was speaking when we did that - Terrence

Unfortunately my keyboard decided to have a melt down while I was typing out this day of commentary... so if I repeat myself it's not just because I suck...

As some of you may recall, there was about a week of no-comicnmess in which afterwards I had to do triple/double comic duty to get back on track... I hope this will at the least force me back into the habit of doing more than one comic at a time- something I got a little too used to... let's hope. -Isabel

Emily is desperate for news about the wedding that she would even talk to icky Brisbane about the situation... that happy little look on her face almost makes me sorry for the poor fool. Almost, but not quite.

Of course, Brisbane is lying through his teeth and actually doing a bad job of it. But does Emily notice? Of course not- she's too busy dancing herself silly.-Isabel

Brisbane isn't usually mean. However, being nice isn't going to work here.

I don't think we had any definite plans for Emily, but it was nice to bring her back for this. Remind folks what her deal is, and all that.

I was probably working on The New Guy, next month's storyline which introduces Patrick and goes into the history of Lemon Technology.The nice thing about an Emily story is that it definitely won't impact that- Terrence

Original Commentary

So why would Kimberly not want Emily to be at her wedding? probably because Emily would try and find some way to make the whole thing be about her- she seems like that kind of person... I'm sure Kimberly could tolerate that kind of crap in High school, but she's a crabby old lady now and shouldn't have to put up with people who refuse to grow up and let someone else have the spotlight.

Brisbane and I'm sure feels a little proud about getting the upper hand on someone- although since it was Emily I'm not really sure how much it counted for. Hanging out with all these conniving females he's either engaged to or related to has certainly done him some good (or evil... depending on your opinion). -Isabel
