 Monday, March 26th 2007 - [824]Sofia's trip (1 of 23)
Original Commentary
I know... "If they're already covered in fur, isn't their shampoo and body wash the same thing?". Well, if you're the type of person who asks such inane questions about fictional characters, I will give you an even more inane answer: Their body hair (or "fur", if you will) is thicker, shorter and more coarse than the longer, softer hair on their head, so it requires different conditioning and care (especially since certain areas of them can get sweatier than the tops of their heads). The same way your skin and hair requires different soaps and oils or such to keep them in top shape.
Bah, such things to speak of.. somehow I lost the clothing layer when I was coloring this comic... so I had to redo it... that always puts me a in foul mood. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
I'm told that All-in-one body wash/shampoo has improved significantly since this comic originally ran.
If it is any good these days - and I can't speak from experience here - it wasn't any good back then. It was the kind of thing you'd buy if you didn't care much about your hair but cared very much about having fewer different products in your bathroom- Terrence Tuesday, March 27th 2007 - [825]Sofia's trip (2 of 23)
Original Commentary
I am so surprised Terrence oked this script... I was so expecting him to say that the toilet paper thing was a bit much... I really hope I don't get an e-mail from someone complaining about it. Really. Anyway... I know it's Spring and that outfit is screaming Fall... Kimberly usually shies away from season specific items out of their seasons... but it was the only thing she had that went with those hair clips... would you rather she clashed? Even more than usual? Didn't think so. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
So whatever happened that weekend, it really messed with Kimberly's hair.
But also, Kimberly is kinda leaning into it. She'd rather be mad about not having shampoo than use an alternative like apple cider vinegar or dish soap or, as Brisbane suggested, body wash.
Brisbane made his suggestion. He's smart enough not to press the issue

Original Commentary
It's been a while since I've had Brisbane in his over exaggerated arm pose... Sofia looks cute as she mocks him, though. Kimberly's bag reads "Sav-Way Drug Store", which was meant to be a parody of the California Drug Store chain Sav-On (are those even around anymore? I don't know... CVS bought them out a while back and they have been slowly disappearing in my area). As some one who also has long hair (although not nearly as full or as blonde -closer to as blonde than as full-) I can understand Kimberly's plight... I have to wash my hair every day or I feel icky... but it's only like this when I have long hair... oh well, the useless things I let you all in on. -Isabel
Modern Commentary
Is that last panel a cliche? Yes. But it was less of a cliche back in 2007.

Original Commentary
Poor Brisbane... it seems he can only be so brave for so long... at least when it comes to his baby sister...I swear I had a dream about this arc but I forgot what it was... I talked with Terrence about the strange snippets I did remember... I think I have a good idea where this arc is going. Modern Commentary
Sofia doesn't like Kimberly. Sofia might "forget" to buy Kimberly's brand of shampoo, but Kimberly would use Sofia's rather than go without.
Is Sofia just pocketing the communal grocery money? I mean, probably. Her plan was that Brisbane would just buy things next week before anyone noticed.
It wasn't to hurt Kimberly. Just, y'know, Sofia gets ahead and no real harm is done. Kinda. Ideally.
- Terrence Friday, March 30th 2007 - [828]Sofia's trip (5 of 23)
Original Commentary
Apparently old Brisbane can stand up for himself... he just needs a few minutes to warm up (and yes I am comparing Brisbane to a hoopty car).
I think it's hard for Brisbane not to want to baby his sister... it probably makes him feel more at ease, almost like the way things had been for him and her back when they lived with their folks...I'm sure it's even harder on Sofia not to be babied by her brother... all that pampering goes a long way (and no, I don't mean he diapered her... even he had his standards). -Isabel
Modern Commentary
"Hey, that argument didn't go the way I think it should. I should go back and try again"
Also, "Hey, going back to that argument didn't work last time. But I'm sure this time it's going to go my way"...
