 Monday, January 22nd 2007 - [782]The other man(1 of 6)
Original Commentary
A smiling Miz Taylor is a scary thing usually... except right now she has an honest reason to smile.
Brisbane, mature? Not quite, no. But he's no kid, either. I suppose that makes him a immature adult... or a big baby... -Isabel
Modern Commentary
Given that Brisbane tries to take initiative but doesn't fully understand the business it's probably safer to send him home than leave him unattended. Dude doesn't know what he's doing at this point - Terrence Tuesday, January 23rd 2007 - [783]The other man (2 of 6)
Original Commentary
Yes, even though the comics have used profanity in the past... the visualization of the gibberish in Miz Taylor's thought bubble in the last panel looks quite amusing... I'm sure she even thought it that way. -Isabel Modern Commentary
It's so rare to see Ms. Taylor smiling...
We never did explain what happened to Mr. Taylor here. There's nobody he's explain the truth to. But I will just point out that he's easily distracted by shiny new plans and that petty little power dynamics are near the core of Mr. and Ms. Taylor's relationship
- Terrence Wednesday, January 24th 2007 - [784]The other man (3 of 6)
Original Commentary
Clarence, as you may know, is Mr. Taylor's (Kimberly's father, Ms. Taylor's ex-husband) first name. Not much else I can say - Terrence
Modern Commentary
The script for this chapter is called lovetriangle.txt.
We had plans for this to be the start of something but things moved along elsewhere before we developed this thread much further
I'm pretty sure we moved this to speakerphone because it gets awkward staging traditional phones for characters with rabbit ears
- Terrence Thursday, January 25th 2007 - [785]The other man (4 of 6)
Original Commentary
We've seen Ms. Taylor's other man mentioned here, a bit over two years ago. I wrote that with a few ideas in mind, but got distracted by other plot elements. So Isabel is writing this - Terrence Modern Commentary
It's the other man. Or one of the other men. Ms Taylor is single and has been so for a while. We kinda like the idea of the Taylors getting back together but neither of them was just waiting around for that to happen.
As I recall it, this Other Man was going to be a businessman of similar age to Ms Taylor. I don't think we had worked out much in the way of other details.
- Terrence Friday, January 26th 2007 - [786]The other man (5 of 6)
Original Commentary
That's the interesting thing - you can go a long time in real life without using names. People recognize numbers, voices. They know who they are so there's no point in repeating each other's name every few sentences - Terrence
Modern Commentary
As I've mentioned in the past: Sometimes we have elaborate plans and figure out things in advance. Sometimes we just pass plot tokens along to our future selves in the hopes that they'll be clever enough to figure out how to use them.
We never ended up going anywhere specific with this. I wish I had found a space to work this in to the Taylor backstory but that's just how some things don't materialize - Terrence Sunday, January 28th 2007 - [787]The other man (6 of 6)
Original Commentary
This arc really could have gone on much longer, unfortunately Terrence and myself are still deciding all the details behind the man behind the other end of the phone. So far all we know about this guy is that he knows what happened between Mr. and Mrs. Taylor very well and can press her emotional buttons just by mentioning the fact that he knows. More on him... eventually. -Isabel Modern Commentary
"This afternoon"?
This is the next morning after that "date".
But as you can see from her eyes, Ms Taylor didn't get much any sleep last night. It's not Wednesday morning. It's Tuesday night, part 2 - Terrence
