We had a few issues with what we wanted Patrick to say in panel three. The original script said "Arugh". Terrence had changed it to "That hurts!". But I wasn't too fond of it- not just because I doubt Patrick would talk to brants, but because it's the middle of the night- I doubt he'll be forming sentences. It wasn't until the last minute that I came up with Patrick calling out for Sofia- it just worked perfectly for the next comics. -Isabel

For the life of me, I can never remember the purple one's name. I always call her "the girl" or "the purple one". Her name was never supposed to have been permanent, but neither Terrence or myself could come up with a good one. And as such, neither could Sofia. Which is why she avoids using her name in this comic... because I had forgotten it and really wasn't in the mood to wade through a few years of comics to find it. -Isabel

Regarding Brenna's name, I'll just say that having the tag system made finding things so much easier. We hadn't added that until a year later. I hope you readers find it useful, but it's saved us enough time that it's worthwhile even if nobody else liked it- Terrence

I had been playing around with the idea of Patrick having a brant of his own... but after this arc decided against it (or rather, I decided that up till this point he did not have a brant). especially considering we would have already seen it in this comic, and there would have had to have been a comic explaining where it went to in all this... it was too much to deal with- and honestly I had forgotten about it until this point. If Patrick had a brant, would he have brought it with him to Sofia's? Probably. On one hand, a brant can handle a few hours on its own. On the other hand, Sofia likes brants. - Terrence

Terrence said to me that Sofia and Patrick remind him a lot of Brisbane and Kimberly's relationship early on... so which one of them is Brisbane and which one of them is Kimberly? They both seem too angry to be Brisbane... -Isabel

What Sofia means is "I'll get along fine without sneaking into your/my bed". What she's technically saying is "I'll find a way to sneak past your/my locked door".

But I think you know exactly what she meant and Patrick's night might get more interesting but it's not getting any more pleasant

Anyhow, she says "lock the door" rather than "close the door". You know Brent can open doors if he puts his mind to it - Terrence

Have we seen Sofia's kitchen before? I'm not sure it has shown up- but then I wasn't quite sure if Sofia's bed room has shown up before (and it did, in Silent Emotion) - Isabel

In Patrick's defense, he had a long day full of trouble and people who've tried his patience. He knows he's lost his cool.

So what would go into a strawberry crepe? I'm sure Sofia would know, but she isn't talking... I was thinking of making them the other day, but as I'm sure either some kind of creme or ice creme is involved, which I don't have, it didn't happen. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Are crepes really fancy? They are if you don't know how to make them, and Patrick has no idea.

It's just flour, milk, butter, eggs, and sugar. You want to make the batter the day before, though. She could've made it earlier in the day and just happened to have enough for a guest.

But Sofia will cook for other people but not for herself. So presumably she put it together after Patrick went to bed but before he started yelling at the brants.

So to summarize, Sofia really wanted the night to go well but Patrick was just way too Patrick about it... - Terrence
