Yes, Sandra seems like the type to, when she goes to the beach, she tries to swim. There's a Ronald Frankau song, about the kind of girl who, when you take her out for a walk, just wants to keep on walking, and how nothing ever happens to her.

I was thinking of cutting this, except for the "Again" at the end. She seems like the type who gets outvoted often when she's with her other friends. That kept it for me - Terrence

I like the business with the calendar in the first panel. Sometimes You Say it First is just little character moments without much going on, and Sandra is the type who uses a wall calendar, which was more of a thing back in 2009. - Terrence

Seriously, you're trying to play the game. It's your turn to get the gloves that the boss drops, so you're trying to keep the tanks healed and the enemies debuffed. Then you hit the wrong button, catch aggro and can't shake it. Then a bunch of giggling young women come in and talk about how they want to do your hair and give you a makeover - Terrence

Why anchovies? Why is it always anchovies? It's not just because it sounds funny, but because it is universally recognized as a pizza topping. I mean, a pepperoni crepe is theoretically possible, but when I say "no anchovies", you think "pizza". I don't think most places even offer anchovies anymore - Terrence

It's kinda funny how anchovies have become shorthand for a pizza topping nobody likes. Like "No anchovies" is halfway to a punchline on its own, despite nobody ever asking for anchovies on a pizza. I've never had them. For all I know I might actually like them. - Terrence

Not pornographic. Just a bit more cheesecake than Jane thinks Sandra would be comfortable with. She's probably right. Anyhow, whatever it is, Robert claims that he watches it for the plot and nostalgia. The bikini episodes just happen to be his favorite - Terrence

Mike Wilson is the vaudevillian mentioned in the previous arc. Love Happy is by the Marx Brothers. It's their last movie and one they'd generally last forget. I have seen The Horn Blows at Midnight, Jack Benny's last movie. Listening to him talk about how it bombed was more amusing than the movie itself - Terrence

I haven't seen Love Happy, but I've heard it's atrocious. But it paid off Chico's gambling debts which were even worse.

I wonder if Sandra recognizes these as awful movies or just old ones that wouldn't play well as background to a party. Probably the latter. She's watched one or two of her uncle's other movies and they were lousy. She's checking in the hope that there will be a fun classic of some kind rather than a bunch of ancient stuff that nobody's heard of. - Terrence
