The name of the delivery guy's company is a throw back to this week's ND Chat (Episode 10... wow, ten episodes. We didn't even mention that...)

I can't help but laugh at poor Brisbane's situation here (not at him himself)... (or LOL@ for those of us ten minutes behind on cool net speak) he went from the top of the world to... being back as Miz Taylor's man-servant. Not that he minds, he likes his job- he's useful and feels he truly plays an important dynamic in Lemon Tech's backbone (moreso than we first though).

Originally Brisbane's last line was "Right there is fine", but judging where the box is and the look on Brisbane's face, it could give the reader the impression that the box is on Brisbane. It really isn't, but if that what you want to imagine, well, more power to you. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
That looks to be Torgo Delivery, a reference to Manos: The Hands of Fate.

ND Chat was a periodic podcast that we used to do for NamirDeiter.net, our donor site. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Useless information about this arc: The script file to this comic is called "Monday", which was the original name for this story arc- or rather, it was the name of the story while it was still in the process of being written. All save the very last comic takes place on that Monday after. However, I felt "Business as usual" fit the arc as a whole I changed Miz Taylor's line a little to make her more angry (and a bit ruder toward Brisbane), as she was being far too polite.-Isabel

That's the thing about being the boss. You can put just about anything in your office and who's going to stop you? - Terrence

Respect

Original Commentary

Brisbane sure is handy with a screwdriver. He's vaguely mechanically inclined, at least. The item is called "Run O' The Mill 2000", which is the best name for a treadmill ever. And since there's not much else to add, I'll let you in on a little secret: Isabel writes Kimberly's mother's name as "Miz Taylor" and I write it as "Ms. Taylor". I find it odd that nobody's mentioned that before - Terrence

Modern Commentary
As you can see, Ms. Taylor asked Brisbane to bring her a screwdriver, then left. So now it's on him to put this thing together.

He's getting paid at least. Probably not the worst task he's had to handle today. - Terrence

Original Commentary

Brisbane is becoming more and more annoyed with Ms. Taylor. He was hoping she'd respect him a little, but she's getting worse and worse now - Isabel

Modern Commentary
I mean, is it demeaning to have your assistant run personal errands for you? This isn't Brisbane's job, right? I mean, what is his job? - Terrence

Original Commentary

I agree completely - Terrence
Now, I haven't cleared this with Terrence, but here is how I see Brisbane being a floor manager and Miz Taylor's receptionist. Brisbane and everyone else gets to work at nine. Miz Taylor gets into work for about 11. In those two hours Brisbane has to make sure everything on his floor is in order and running without him by the time Miz Taylor gets here. Whether or not Miz Taylor knows about this "Second job" is another thing altogether. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
So, was the problem that Brisbane tried to control how the company operated or that he was controlling it but slipped up?

I mean, both, kinda.- Terrence

flashback

Original Commentary

Yes, a flashback. Because a lot happened that night, apparently. Alternating between these two and Brisbane & Kimberly would've been confusing and lessened the dramatic tension.

This is, mind you, the effect Dan had been hoping for. Not Mr. Taylor hanging over his ex-wife like a cat ready to pounce, but Ms. Taylor working on being sharper and more perceptive - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Everybody involved knows he wants more than to just talk...

The stage directions in the second panel are "(He's trying to hold her hand, she tries to take it away)" - Terrence
