Original Commentary

Terry had to do a little rewriting to today's comic, as the second panel was far too similar to the first panel of Sunday's comic. It was my fault, of course, but Terry fixed things right up.

Miz Taylor's mood swings seem to be a weekly thing for poor Brisbane, he probably had them on his personal schedule, as he can avoid them easier. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
So, what are the minor shareholders doing? Just listening in to Brisbane and Kimberly's heart-to-heart? I kinda forgot about them being here but there's probably, like, six other guys just off-panel that our lead characters don't know at all - Terrence

Original Commentary

I really enjoyed how this plot point turned out. Terrence managed to make Brisbane mature from the situation, taking the bull by the horns, but in his own, still-very-Brisbane-like manner.

I suggested a line for this comic, but Terrence decided against it. I won't go to into details because, like always, just because we reject an idea once doesn't mean it won't be perfect at a later date. All I'll say is it was rejected because there were other board members in the room.

Brisbane's bare boned plan was to call all the stock holders (as seen in this comic) and tell them about the stock holders meeting (which, at this point of time was still much later that day). I'm not sure if he asked Mr. Taylor especially to come, but I'm sure Brisbane felt he was especially needed (if anything for Kimberly). I'm sure that the only reason Mr. Taylor did show up was because Kimberly was so deep over her head. Mr. Taylor coming to his daughter's aid on this short of a notice means that he was nearby enough to attend the meting (although this may actually be no big deal- neither Terrence or myself know where Mr. Taylor is currently calling home). One thing is for sure though, neither Mr. or Miz Taylor expected their day to end up like this.-Isabel

Modern Commentary
Brisbane is remarkably lucky. He kinda swung wild on this plan. Kimberly would have had to choose whether or not to make a stand against her mother - and Kimberly isn't ready to do that yet but this might be the best chance that everyone has.

What if Mr. Taylor had his own set of plans? Dude usually has a variety of risky business schemes lined up, and Kimberly could have just as easily been put in the middle of more problems - Terrence

Original Commentary

Originally, the comic was going to have one panel of Brisbane saying something and stopping himself, then Mr. Taylor, Ms. Taylor and Dan entering. But the arc has been going on a bit of a while and there's no point dragging things out right now. When I realized that I was at work, though, and didn't have my notes. I had a different version of this comic written out before. I kind of liked the other version better, but this one fits the previous comics - Terrence

Modern Commentary
Brisbane and Kimberly weren't involved in the big negotiations here, but they weren't ready to be.

I keep thinking of them as end-of-series Brisbane and Kimberly, who very much were ready to be involved in that kind of business.

And my notes don't mention the different version of the comic that the original commentary references. No idea what that was about. Sorry - Terrence

Original Commentary

This is the moment that I was originally going to have in yesterday's comic. But this deserved it's own comic. This is the moment that the last 50 comics or so have been building up to. The original draft had Dan explaining things to Kimberly after the meeting had broken up. I'll probably go out of my way to mention it in tomorrow's comic, but firstly, Mr. Taylor is only selling a third of his shares and secondly, about 55% of the ownership is in attendance, which is something of a rarity. Why Brisbane? That'll be answered later on, trust me - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I cheated a bit here. When I was re-lettering, I re-worded it to be very clear that Mr. Taylor is selling one third of his 15% stake, not all of it.

So there's the implication that there was a little explanation between this comic and the previous. Which as you know is not my usual style - Terrence

Original Commentary

Originally, the explanation took place with Brisbane, Kimberly and Dan after the meeting, so that they could speak more freely. Dan is talking a bit more loosely than he normally would. Mr. Taylor, however, is usually like this. Basically, everybody has their reasons, but nobody's going to openly state them yet. I was going to have Brisbane ask "Why? Why me?", but realized that they were separate questions that deserved separate answers - Terrence

Modern Commentary
I'm kind of amazed that Mr. Taylor, Ms. Taylor, and Dan managed to broker any kind of deal in a reasonable amount of time.

Mr. Taylor can be very persuasive sometimes - Terrence

Original Commentary

I suggested a panel of Kimberly and Brisbane laughing together after the one where Mr. Taylor talks about how Brisbane seemed capable for the job, but Terrence vetoed it. Humph.

Kimberly may look like she's in shock... but she's thinking and calculating moves in head, I'm sure. It's what she does best. When we see the results of these thoughts, is still undecided.

The pie chart on the back says "profit" and "not profit" (the part all in red). During this story arc I was supposed to change it to say "pizza" and "no pizza". Never got a chance or a real clear shot of the "profit" chart in time. Oh well. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Does Mr. Taylor know Brisbane? No. It's not like he talks to anyone else in the cast regularly, at this point. But no harm in building him up a bit. - Terrence
