Lounge Guys
Angry
shoulder pads

Original Commentary

This is loosely much based on my own search for a creative outlet other than drawing, to relieve stress.

In the original draft, the lounge guy was going to mention that Kimberly seemed stressed, but that got cut by accident and we decided to leave it out. It's obvious from the context that Kimberly is stressed out and irritable - Isabel

Modern Commentary
I'm kinda surprised that the Lounge Guy knew that big shoulder pads had gone out of style. - Terrence

Original Commentary

I'm sure Lola is glad that she only offered a Coke for the winner to the bet- at the least, a Coke was the only thing she would ever agree to give to the Lounge Guys.

I really like aprons, they are functional, pretty and motherly. Lola probably wore them a lot back when she had kids, as a way of reminding them who was boss. Now I'm sure she wears them to lull her enemies into a false sense of security. I like Lola, she's fun. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Even in casualwear, her hackles are up.

You ever get in one of those bad moods where you don't want to do anything? Like, you're not going to go read a book or watch your favorite TV show because you're not going to enjoy anything right now and you don't want to get anything good tainted by what you're going through now - Terrence

Original Commentary

I'm sure Brisbane's main function these days is to make lots of alcoholic girly drinks for Miz Taylor and her associates. He doesn't mind the tips or the bow tie, but when they try to put the tips into his pants, that's where he draws the line.

For some reason I really love Kimberly's line in the last panel... it's the kind of thing Kimberly would say if she were in a really, really, bad mood. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Every time we order delivery, they pick up our order then drive halfway to the other side of town before delivering ours. I think we end up being the second or third order in the chain.

I take it back. Not every time. Sometimes they just wait 20 minutes in the parking lot for our fries to get cold. - Terrence

Crochet

Original Commentary

For some reason, I thought the crochet hooks were needles, but when doing research for this arc, I found out I was calling them by the wrong name. It kind of took the cute pun out of the story arc, but that's how it goes sometimes.

I'm sure she made that tote bag all by herself, which says "Got to Craft" on it. Yes, Lola: mother, grandmother, manager, crafter, wrestling enthusiast. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
You knit with needles. You crochet with hooks. There is a difference.- Terrence

That was fast.

Original Commentary

I have to admit... I too tried crocheting. It seemed to me that you either got it on your first try or you didn't... or maybe that was the way the person who was trying to teach me did it. Either way, never try to teach someone anything using Lola's example- you're in for a world of trouble if you do so. -Isabel

Modern Commentary
Isabel never learned to crochet.

I never learned either, so it's one more thing that we have in common. - Terrence
